In the course of this migration, I fixed numerous issues stemming from outdated and deprecated methods and keywords that used to work perfectly on Android 2.2 (API 8) and did not produce any warnings on Eclipse/ADT.

Update: The package that used to include this DetailsReceiver used be downloadable from market://details?id=com.google.android.voicesearch. It no longer exists on Google Play.

I am confused. So many candidates for a direct replacement of com.google.android.voicesearch but unclear documentation or information about this. Which downloadable package replaced it?

Issue 1:PackagManager's inability to find RecognizerIntent.ACTION_RECOGNIZE_SPEECH when queried is due to a new requirement starting from Android 11 (API 30) and higher to explicitly specify package visibility in AndroidManifest.xml:

Googling "voicesearch" replaced by "googlequicksearchbox" site:google.com reveals quite a few matches but no official announcement per se. Yet, some claim that the package com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox was first introduced in Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) which was released in June 2012.

Google assistant on Shield tv never shows me anything in my Emby library, if I use a voice command like John wick or whatever movie, it shows watch youtube trailer or Netflix, or Google play, but not emby...the emby app is on my screen for "suggested for me", but how to get it to look at my library via the voice search?

I did Luke I went into the shield settings, device preferences, Google assistant, searchable apps and nothing is there not the emby app or any app for that matter... I just got this shield TV it's the 2019 tube so not sure what's going on that's why I asked if it was not released and still in beta

I am able to do the voice search for movies but not for tv shows. For example if I say "Brooklyn 99" I only get Netflix as a result. I saw that you can't search for episode, but is it possible to be able to search for tv shows and juay let it default to lets say season 1 episode 1?

Right. Okay, that is related to the specific search. If you search for something that returns a single result - you'll get a screen like I did. If you search for something that has multiple results, then you get the more expanded view with all the results.

Voice search works partially for me with Emby on my Shield TV. I have Emby enabled as a searchable app. However, only some of the movies I have display in the "Available On" results. Anyone have an idea what the issue might be?

Movies with or without punctuation - for example, Heathers. Disney Plus shows up but not on Emby. This search looks for Heather's. Amazon comes up finding Heathers. If I correct the search to Heathers Emby still does not come up. In Emby Heather's is the search term that comes up, but I have to correct it to find the movie within Emby search. Other somewhat similar examples is Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. Although when I tried it a second time, it worked.

Finally movies with numbers in the name - for example, Gone in 60 Seconds. The search comes up with 60 not sixty. Amazon and Google come up with results. Emby has the move listed as sixty so I need that exact wording to locate in Emby.

The same search routines are being used inside Emby and with this feature. Google just calls us to do a search and then we return results. What they do with those results (like possibly ignore them) we cannot control unfortunately.

I would say that the BRAVE TEAM is just ignoring the fact that removing the Voice Search is just a very bad thing and is very frustrating. So at the end I wanna say just get it fixed ASAP otherwise I am always happy to look at ads rather than not being able to use voice search.

Google Voice Search or Search by Voice is a Google product that allows users to use Google Search by speaking on a mobile phone or computer, i.e. have the device search for data upon entering information on what to search into the device by speaking.

Google Voice Search was a tool from Google Labs that allowed someone to use their phone to make a Google query. After the user called (650) 623-6706, the number of Google Voice's search system, they would wait for the words Say your Search Keywords and then say the keywords. Next, they would either wait to have the page updated, or click on a link to bring up the search page the user requested. At the moment, both the demo of this service and the page have been shut down. Since the introduction of the service, products from Google, such as GOOG-411, Google Maps and Google Mobile App, have been developed to use speech recognition technology in various ways.

On October 30, 2012, Google released a new Google Search app for iOS, which featured an enhanced Google Voice Search function, similar to that of the Voice Search function found in Google's Android Jelly Bean and aimed to compete with Apple's own Siri voice assistant.[5] The new app has been compared favorably by reviewers to Siri and The Unofficial Apple Weblog's side-by-side comparison said that Google's Voice Search on iOS is "amazingly quick and relevant, and has more depth [than Siri]".[6]Of note is that as of May 2016 20% of search queries on mobile devices were done through voice with the number expected to grow.[7]

In the summer of 2008, Google added voice search to the BlackBerry Pearl version of Google Maps for mobile, allowing Pearl users to say their searches in addition to typing them. See for more information.

The Google Mobile app for Blackberry and Nokia (Symbian) mobiles allows users to search Google by voice at the touch of a button by speaking their queries. See for more information. Google also introduced voice search to all "Google Experience" Android phones with the 1.1 platform update, which includes the functionality on board the built-in Google Search widget.

In November 2008, Google added voice search to Google Mobile App on iPhone. With a later update, Google announced Voice Search for iPod touch. It requires a third party microphone. On August 5, 2009, T-Mobile launched the MyTouch 3G with Google, which features one-touch Google Voice Search.

Since March 2010, a beta-grade derivation of Google Voice Search is used on YouTube to provide optional automatic text caption annotations of videos in the case that annotations are not provided. This feature is geared to the hearing-impaired and, at present, is only available for use by English-speaking users.[23]

Hi, first time posting! Got a Chromecast last week and all has been going great, but the voice control has suddenly stopped working. You press the button on the remote and the voice control box pops up, but when you hold it down and talk, it doesn't register anything. A few minutes later the voice will say "something went wrong, try again in a few minutes". I tried rebooting the remote but now the remote keeps disconnecting every 20/30 minutes or so! Any ideas how to fix??

I just bought mine and it worked about twice, but then factory reset both remote and chromecast, unpair, pair again.. did every troubleshooting I found. Nothing, assistant comes up, suggested searches, but it wont take a voice command. Then after a while it sais "something went wrong, try again in a few seconds" or it says "there was a glitch"

It came with remote firmware 26.0 and updated to 26.6. None of them worked

Having the same issue on my Google TV. Tried to use the assistant button on my remote and it will come up with the mic icon and then assistant just shuts right back off. Tried through the virtual remote in the app still no luck. Affecting both my bedroom and living room tv. Surprisingly not affecting my kids TVs.

I started having this issue today. I tried changing the remote batteries, forgetting the remote and then pairing again, rebooting the Chromecast, unplugging the Chromecast, and using the remote in Google Home. Surprisingly, the Voice command in the Google Home device remote feature does the same thing as far as showing the Assistant button is active on the Chromecast, but nothing is heard.

Exact same for me (i'm in the UK).

I even went as far as ordering a replacement remote...before realising none of my 3 remotes were working! All very strange...and seemingly no comment from Google yet?

FYI I decided to clear the cash for the Android Bluetooth and remote apps in the system setting and it seems to have fixed the issue for me. need to go to Settings- apps- see all apps- show system apps - there I cleared the cache on everything related to the remote that I could so I'm not sure which one actually did it. I did the "Android TV infrared Service" and "Android TV Remote Service"

I'm having the same issue as everyone else. Google Assistant suddenly no longer works on my Chromecast voice remote. It's happened on two different Chromecasts (and with 2 different voice remotes) as well as using the remote through the Google TV app on my Pixel 6 Pro.

They were already posting in this thread that the Chromecast team and assistant team are working with each other to resolve it. Some people said clearing cache and date on the remote system apps may fix it for some.

So whenever I press the voice button on my Chromecast remote, Google voice assistant acts like it is listening but doesn't hear anything. This started a day or two ago. It affects all my tvs, all my parents tvs and all of one of my friends tvs except one that uses Chromecast. That tells me the issue isn't on our end? 152ee80cbc
