The career I have decided to pursue is mechanical engineering and build missiles for the military. I was inspired by my dad, who worked for the government for 25 years and now works as a government contractor. Sometimes he would tell stories about the different engineers he worked with and it always seemed to intrigue me. I have always been fascinated by the way things work and how mathematics is incorporated into different machines.
I have taken Algebra 1 and honors Geometry. Right now, I am taking algebra 2 and I plan to take pre-calc and AP-calc. Currently, I am taking honors Chemistry and plan to take AP Physics next year. I am also enrolled in the engineering program at the James A. Forrest Career and Technology Center. I have learned how to relate math and science to the world around me. I have also learned how to work better in a work force environment.
Currently I play travel softball for the Bayside Blues and I wrestle for Leonardtown Highschool. Through both of these sports, I have learnt mental toughness and that hard work pays off. Softball taught me my drive and that if I want something I’m going to have to work hard for it. Wrestling has taught me to never give up. When you're tired and burnt out, keep going. Push harder. I haven't officially been employed yet, but sometimes I will watch my 4 year old nephew. This teaches me how to be responsible for others and other things.
My plan after high school is to attend a 4 year engineering school. Being accepted and going to a larger university is my dream. At the moment I'm looking into Virginia Tech or possibly Princeton. If not I might try to get my bachelors. degree at CSM and then try to transfer to a larger university. This plan is possible to change over time but I would like to imagine that this path is possible in my foreseeable future.
After achieving my career goal I will affect my community by using my skills to protect. I also want to help my society by creating defense tools for our government. I will have a positive impact on my country so that I can watch it grow and prosper.
