On July 27, 2013, Lambda Chi Alpha announced a national partnership with Feeding America. This partnership is an opportunity to significantly increase the amount of food and funds collected at nearly 200 chapters across North America.
Feeding America is a nationwide network of 200 food banks and 60,000 food pantries and meal programs that provides food and services to more than 46 million people each year. Feeding America also supports programs to secure and provide food for families in need; operates programs that promote self-sufficiency; educates the public about hunger; and advocates for legislation that protects people from going hungry.

Here at GW, we directly work with and assist the Capital Area Food Bank. All proceeds collected during our annual Watermelon Bash go to their organization. Look at their website for more information:
Our annual philanthropy is known as Watermelon Bash. It is a week-long event of activities that has sororities compete against one another to raise food for the Capital Area Food Bank. Some events include: Penny Wars, fundraisers at local restaurants, movie night, trivia night, and more! Watermelon Bash culminates in a field day where all the competing sororities go head-to-head in events such as tug-of-war, egg toss, watermelon eating competition, and chubby bunny.
