GVR Canasta Club Monitor Duties
The Canasta Club utilizes a volunteer monitor program to help ensure that we can have regular sessions.
Monitors will:
open the doors and set up the tables for club play at approximately 11:45 AM (Doors open at 12 Noon). Setting up the tables consist of putting the pencils, score sheets, cards, card holder and hand sanitizer out.
assign a number for each table and pass out corresponding number chips to each player;
Do a count of players before handing out chips. If there are 1 or 2 players over. Ask the club if anyone volunteers to go home. If there are no volunteers get chips from a number that is not on a table. Whoever draws that chip must go home.
NOTE: The monitors are guaranteed a spot to play. When the monitors hand out the chips. They should pick their chip first.
If there are 3 people over ask for volunteers to play a 3 person game. Again, if there are not enough volunteers put 3 chips from a number that is not on a table and whoever draws those numbers must play at the 3 person table.
announce the top 6 scores from the previous week prior to club play;
record the top 6 scores to be read the next week, collect and put items away at the end of play.
We would like to have two monitors each session. The monitors will serve for one month.
Monitors will always play on the day that they are serving as monitors.
If you would like to volunteer there is a signup sheet available at each club session or you may send an email to the club @ canastagvr@gmail.com.
