Emma Holtzman
FoodCorps Service MemberEmma is one of our new FoodCorps AmeriCorps Service Members! She is so excited to be a part of GVI's School Garden Team. She graduated from SUNY Geneseo in 2019 with a Bachelor's degree in Economics, having hopes of using her creativity to change public policy for the better. However, when the Covid-19 pandemic began, she realized that community-driven initiatives generated a bigger impact in people's daily lives. Being a dance teacher, mental health advocate, and environmentalist, she's passionate about helping people build healthier and happier lives. Though her track was unconventional, she's thrilled to be serving with FoodCorps, teaching children about taking care of themselves and their communities, and- of course- fighting for food justice!

She wrote her senior thesis on American foodways, and since then has been determined to pursue her curiosity and love for all things food. She believes that food is everything, and it is so important that everyone has a relationship with the food they eat. She cares deeply about taking care of ourselves, each other, and the planet. She wants to help build a more just, sustainable, and compassionate world, and believes food and education is a vital place to start.
