Eye surgery
Anaesthetists provide anaesthesia for some eye / ophthalmic operations.
Anaesthesia can be provided with:
Local anaesthetic eye drops
Local anaesthetic ' nerve block', most commonly 'sub-tenon's block'
with or without intravenous sedation
General anaesthesia
Your surgeon will discuss and advise the appropriate anaesthetic choice for your operation
