The Transnational Governance of Urban Wellness in the Americas (GUWA) database identifies the many transnational city diplomatic initiatives that work towards urban wellness, their structure, and their content. These initiatives comprise transnational city networks, which cities join or create to exchange information and best practices, agree on norms to enhance urban wellness, and coordinate their policies. They also include partnerships or memorandums of understanding between cities and international organizations, private foundations, or nongovernmental organizations to enhance urban wellness in a certain region or worldwide. We exclude from the database bilateral agreements or national initiatives.
Initiatives in this database meet the following criteria:
Initiatives have at least one city in the Americas.Â
Initiatives have at least two countries represented.
Cities comprise at least 50% of members in an initiative.
