Gustavo Balbuena was born on January 3rd, in 1971 in San Isidro, Buenos Aires (Argentina).

START OF MARTIAL CAREER

He began his career in the Martial Arts in 1996 and three years later, on May 19, 1999, he obtained his black Taekwondo belt at the STF school (Songham Taekwondo Federation), with the instructors Sergio Tejada (6th Dan) and Fernando Grezch (former president of STF Argentina).

From 2002 to 2004 he practiced at the ITF school (International Taekwondo Federation), that took him into many internationals competitions too. In addition, he ventured into Capoeira, at the Bahía Gymnasium (Martínez, Buenos Aires) and became an orange-orange belt.

In 2011 he began to practice Full Contact at the Delta School (Tigre, Buenos Aires), with the instructor Fabián Duarte and with the President of that institution, Pablo Álvarez. He achieved the rank of Black Belt of Honor, thanks to his extensive career. He participated there as a student, and also evaluated other students at annual examination tables, where the belt graduations were determined.

FORAID IN KICK BOXING

In 2016 he ventured into Kick Boxing, at the Ironman and Xeven gyms (Tigre, Buenos Aires). In the middle of 2017, the instructor and coach Facundo Córdoba began to accompany him to compete in different tournaments.

MARTIAL CAREER IN KICK BOXING

2017

In the month of December 2017, he was consecrated Argentine Champion of the Light-Contact modality.

2018

On June 10, 2018, he obtained the title of South American Champion in the Full-Contact modality. On August 12 of the same year, he won the title of South American Regional Champion.

On September 5, the mayor of the Tigre, Dr. Julio Zamora, awarded him a sporting recognition due to his vast career and for becoming the South American and Regional Kick Boxing champion.

On November 11, after five arduous fights against rivals from all over the world, he managed to obtain the title of World Kick Boxing Subchampion in the light-contact modality.

2019

During the year 2019, he has obtained various belts with various titles. In September of that year, he managed to defend his title of South American Champion in Brazil. In this way, the title continued to remain in our country (Argentina). And even, in this Open Martial Arts Tournament, Argentina won the cup for their different victories.

In the aforementioned tournament, Gustavo was recognized by the Brazilian Kick Boxing Federation with a plaque, highlighting on the one hand his great career, and on the other hand, mentioning the importance of his participation in this event.

On October 13, 2019, he became Champion of the World Championship Open, organized by the CHDK World League. There, he got his sixth belt.

On November 10, 2019, he participated in the World Cup Argentina, achieving a triple championship. In this way, he obtained a medal and added two new belts, being 8 in total at this point.

On November 24, 2019, Gustavo was part of the "Estrellas de Acero" event in its fifth edition. There, he obtained a medal corresponding to a first place.

A few days later, also in November, he gets the "Best Competitor 2019" award at his school's award gala, Chaiu-Do-Kwan. In turn, they recognized their coach at the time, Facundo Córdoba, and his "corner".

2020

Starting the year 2020, in February, Gustavo becomes ISKA Champion, thus obtaining a new belt for his martial career. Thereby, he manages to achieve his 9th belt.

At the end of 2020, he was chosen to be part of the "Argentina Hall of Fame" Book. In this book, the best 50 martial artists of the year are exposed.

2021

In March 2021, Balbuena wins the "Desafío de las Estrellas" in its 3rd Edition.

Later, in July 2021, Gustavo is chosen to be part of the Argentine Kickboxing Team, called "Hell's Fighters". The Team would compete in the World Kickboxing Championship in Cairo, Egypt. The latter will take place in October 2021.

After arduous efforts and collaborations from various sources, Balbuena manages to obtain the money for the trip and fly to Egypt, thus participating in the World Cup, held in October 2021.

After several fights with different rivals from all over the world, he became World Kickboxing Champion in his main category, being Masters-Over 80 kg. - More than 40 years.

On the other hand, in the World Cup he also participates in other categories, in which he added two silver medals for the Argentine National Team. The categories in which he was runner-up were: Seniors-Free-Over 80 kg. and Full-Contact.

On November 11, 2021, Gustavo is again selected to be part of the Book "Hall of Fame Argentina", where the best 50 martial artists of the year are crowned.

present

On January 15, 2022, Gustavo is crowned champion of the Point Fight category at the World Kick boxing Network (WKN) event.

On March 20 of the same year, he becomes ISKA National Champion, obtaining a new belt.

On April 8, he participates in an event held in Rojas, Buenos Aires (Argentina). In it, he receives a distinction for his World Championship, achieves a 1st place in the Point Fight category and a 2nd place in the Kick Boxing modality.

On May 15, he participates in a World Champion Home Run at the Necochea Fight Club event.

On May 31, he receives a distinction from the Honorable Deliberative Council of Tigre. The same, was voted unanimously by the legislative body, in order to recognize his dedication and martial trajectory.

On June 12, he's crowned Argentine Champion in the Argentine Republic Cup, adding the 13th belt to his martial career.
