Alebrijes
All artists learned about Mexican folk art, Alebrijes, originally created by Pedro Linares. An alebrije is a fantastical animal with bright colors and patterns. A true alebrije has 3 of the 4 elements: earth, wind, fire and water.
All students created a dot button that they could wear. With this art they also created a 'Not-a-dot'. Students also explored stencils, lids, cups and dot stickers as other ways to create dot artwork.
Kinder and 1st grade artists learned about the artist Yayoi Kusama and her incredible dot pumpkins. They created a pumpkin and painted dots patterns.
Dot Day 2022
We celebrated International Dot Day on Friday, September 23rd 2022. Dot Day is a celebration of creativity and a growth mind set from the book The Dot by Peter Reynolds.
August 2022
All students helped to create this incredible tree living in our main hallway. Inspired by the book When Sophie Gets Angry, Really, Really Angry by Molly Bang, students created a leaf to help create a peaceful environment.
