This school was established in 1901 as a primary school.. In 1925 this school was upgraded to the lower vernacular model middle school. In 1942 it was upgraded from lower vernacular to the vernacular middle school in which medium of the study was Hindi. Despite of academicals studies he spinning, embroidery, poultry farming and agricultural training was also given to the students. In 1953 english was started as a subject in this school. In 01-04-1956 he school was upgraded to the higher secondary level. Till 01-01-1957 the administration of school was in hands of district board kangra. After then the administration was handed over to the education department of Punjab. In November 1966 after the reorganization of states the school came under the education department of Himchal Pradesh. In 1956 first prime minister of India came with his daughter Indira Gandhi, who was accompanied by her two sons Rajeev Gandhi and Sanjay Gandhi.
The school is situated at the bank of Confluence of Beas (Vipasha) river and its tributary Parvati. The Confluence of two rivers gives a message of brotherhood and regular progression in all spheres of life. The sky reaching height mountain peaks conveys human to keep rising high and keep the narrowness away.
