SHIKIはもともと100年続く製材所、建設会社、建築事務所でした。 2022年にはオフィスがカフェに生まれ変わり、2024年には製材工場がマルシェ会場になります。 これからは、銘木の空間プロデュースと地域コミュニティのリノベーションを目指します。
SHIKI was originally a 100-year-old sawmill, construction company, and architecture office. In 2022, the office will be reborn as a cafe, and in 2024, the sawmill will become a marche venue. From now on, our goal is to produce precious wood spaces and local community renovation.

- 春の花見 Sakura of April-
毎年３月後半から4月にかけて500本の桜が咲き乱れ、町が賑わいます

５月後半から６月にかけて歩いて２分の玉川沿いでホタルが観賞できます

About Japanese old houses
畳 - Tatami mat -
Tatami mats are made from straw, rushes, cloth wood and paper. Piles of straw are woven together and bound at the edges with cloth. Hand made tatami are said to last 30 years. Tatami are unique to Japan. Tatami mats hold a unique role in traditional arts such as the tea ceremony and flower arrangement as well as martial arts such as Judo.
障子・襖 -Shoji screen, sliding paper door, Fusuma paper wall-
A Shoji is a sliding door with wooden lattice work which is built into a rectangular wooden frame. Japanese paper pasted on the latticework allows gentle sunlight to penetrate it. Shoji are used not only as doors but also to partition rooms. A fusuma is another kind of sliding door used in a traditional home. Japanese paper is ideal for the climate in Japan because it controls the level of humidity in homes by absorbing and releasing moisture. The modern paper screens used today are akari shoji that allow light (akari )to pass through.
床の間 -Tokonoma, alcove-
A tokonoma is an elevated alcove in a traditional Japanese room. It was originally considered a sacred place in which to put a statue of Buddha. It is a space to display decorative scrolls, ornaments and flowers.
欄間-Ranma, decorative transom-
The traditional Japanese room is used for many purposes. The materials used are not painted but left in their natural state. The Ranma offer a sensitive beauty to the harmony of space. The Ranma are the decorative screens installed between the ceiling and doors in Japanese room to let in light and breeze.
