Openings

We are always looking for students, who are passionate about chemical engineering, materials and sustainability to join our team. Our group always has a mix of undergraduate, Masters, PhD students and postdoctoral fellows.

PhD Positions:

If you are interested in doing a PhD in our group, you need to apply to the chemical engineering program at IITB. Typically, we admit students twice a year through a process that has a screening round, followed by interviews. I do not have any TA-Project positions at this time. However, if you have a TA position or have your own funding, please contact me for details of PhD problems that are of current interest to our group.

Postdoctoral Fellow:

We have an immediate requirement for a postdoctoral fellow to join our group. The specific project that this person will work on is to extend the ice-templating technique developed in our group to 3D printing. The ice-templating method has been described in several papers from our group (background reading: Chem. Mater. 2014, 26, 5161-5168; ACS-Applied Materials and Interfaces 2017, 9, 44864–44872; Macromolecules 2019, 52, 5955-5962; Cellulose 2021, 28, 6323-6337). Briefly, this method allows one to prepare composite materials in porous form by freezing an aqueous dispersion in a mould, and can be applied to dispersions of a wide variety of colloidal materials. In this project, we wish to extend this by performing 3D printing, such that the extruded colloidal dispersion is frozen into the 3D dimensional shape of interest. We are seeking a candidate with experience in any of fluid mechanics, materials rheology, materials printing, print control strategies, etc. The expectation is that postdoctoral fellows can work largely independently, with minimal supervision and will also mentor junior researchers in the group. Typically, postdoctoral fellows also have the opportunity to get involved with other projects in the group .
