Thank you…
The Gumbo Lab started Radical Imaginings Ten minute Film Fest in 2020 in response to providing a space for ages 12 to adult to express what Radical Imagining meant to them. It has provided access to new and established filmmakers from Philadelphia, New York City, and Chicago. There are no submission fees so that cost will never hinder accessibility. Artists deserve a space where their work is appreciated and more importantly, seen. The first year film fest can still be seen on PhillyCAM cable channel. The second year featured Black male filmmakers speaking on the importance of mental health, community, and life after incarceration. This year is our final year. My hope is that it’s presence has inspired other local and national festivals to consider access, the inclusion of youth voices, and the power of BIPOC stories being curated by us for us. Thank you to all of you who have supported this project annually, and thank you to those who are in attendance today. Thank you to the judges. And, thank you to the filmmakers for being a part of the 3rd Annual Radical Imaginings Ten Minute Film Fest. Continue to look for new projects that Gumbo Lab has cooking up. Love and Light always.
