1. INTRODUCTION
Welcome to Gujarati Calendar ("we," "our," or "us"), developed by Orenda Labs. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Android mobile application (the "App").
The primary purpose of our App is to provide an accurate Gujarati Hindu calendar, Panchang, Choghadiya timings, festival information, and localized sunrise/sunset data. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it through our compliance with this policy.
Please read this privacy policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not access or use the application.
2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
a) Personal Data
The App does not require you to create an account, nor do we directly request, collect, or store any personally identifiable information (PII) such as your name, email address, phone number, or physical address on our servers.
b) Non-Personal Data & Local Data
We may access non-personal data to provide core app functionalities. For example, your selected city references or precise/coarse GPS location are utilized exclusively on your device to calculate accurate astronomical events (e.g., Tithi, Sun/Moon transitions). This location data is processed locally and is never transmitted to, or stored on, our servers. App settings and preferences are saved locally on your device.
c) Automatically Collected Data
When you use the App, integrated third-party services (such as analytics and advertising frameworks) may automatically collect certain device and usage information. This data generally does not directly identify you and may include:
- Device Information: Device model, operating system version, and unique device identifiers (such as the Google Advertising ID).
- Usage Data: App launch frequency, screen views, session duration, and features interacted with.
- Network & Location: IP addresses (which can indicate approximate geographic region) and mobile network information.
- Crash Reports: Stack traces, device state at the time of a crash, and performance logs.
3. HOW WE USE INFORMATION
We, and our third-party partners, use the collected information for the following purposes:
- Feature Functionality: Using local device location to accurately compute the Panchang, Choghadiya, and astronomical calculations specific to your geographic area.
- Performance Monitoring: Identifying software bugs, analyzing crash reports, and improving the overall stability of the App.
- Analytics & Improvements: Understanding how users navigate the App to enhance the user interface and overall experience.
- Advertising: Delivering targeted or non-targeted advertisements within the App to keep it free for our users.
4. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
Our App employs trusted third-party SDKs (Software Development Kits) and APIs to facilitate features, analytics, and advertising. These third parties may collect, process, and retain data according to their own privacy policies. We strongly recommend reviewing them:

5. DATA SHARING
We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise share your personal information with outside parties. The automatically collected data (as outlined in Sections 2 and 4) is only shared with our verified third-party service providers (Google and Firebase) strictly for the purpose of app analytics, crash reporting, and displaying advertisements.
We may also disclose information where legally required to do so in order to comply with applicable law, governmental requests, a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process.
6. DATA RETENTION
User preferences and local calendar data are stored locally on your device and are retained as long as the App is installed. If you uninstall the App, this local data is deleted automatically.
Data automatically collected by third-party services (Analytics, Ads, Crashlytics) is retained by those providers according to their respective policies, generally just long enough to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected or as required by law.
7. USER RIGHTS AND CONTROLS
Even though we do not collect personal data on our servers, you have full control over the data generated on your device:
- Revoke Permissions: You can revoke location access and notification permissions at any time by navigating to your device's App Settings.
- Clear Data: You can clear the App's storage and cache from your device settings to wipe all locally saved preferences.
- Advertising Preferences: You can opt-out of personalized advertising by going to your Android device settings > Google > Ads, and enabling "Opt out of Ads Personalization" or resetting your Advertising ID.
8. DATA SECURITY
We value your trust. Since our App processes sensitive data like location solely on the device locally, the risk of data breaches on our end is fundamentally minimized. For data transmitted to third-party services (like crash logs or analytics), we rely on industry-standard encryption protocols (e.g., HTTPS) provided by Google and Firebase. However, please remember that no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
Our App is a general audience application and we do not knowingly market to or solicit data from children under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal data (or if third-party SDKs have inadvertently captured it), please contact us so that we can take necessary actions to have that data removed from third-party servers.
10. APP PERMISSIONS USED
To provide complete functionality, the App requests the following Android permissions. We strictly adhere to the principle of least privilege and only request what is necessary:
- ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION: Required to access precise GPS coordinates. Why? Astronomical calculations (Sunrise, Sunset, Moon phases, Panchang transitions) rely heavily on precise coordinates to be 100% mathematically accurate.
- ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION: Required to access approximate location (network-based). Why? Used as a fallback to calculate the panchang when GPS is unavailable.
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Required to display push notifications. Why? To send you daily local alerts such as daily panchang summaries, choghadiya updates, and festival reminders.
- RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED: Runs automatically when the device starts up. Why? To silently reschedule your daily local notifications and alarm triggers so you do not miss daily updates after restarting your phone.
- WAKE_LOCK: Keeps processor from sleeping. Why? Temporarily required by the system to ensure that scheduled background alarms and local notifications trigger exactly on time, even when the device screen is off.
Note: You can deny or revoke the Location and Notification permissions at any time, but doing so may limit the accuracy of astronomical timings and disable daily alerts.
11. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal obligations. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
