KEEP YOUR VALETON UPDATED
Valeton frequently updates its products and makes the firmware available on the brand's official website. In order for you to have access to fixes, new features, pedals and effects, it is important to keep your valeton up to date, in addition to your desktop software.
Official website > https://www.valeton.net/download.html
After the download is complete, click on the "wrench" icon in the top corner of your Valeton and in the menu, click on Firmware update. Select the .BIN file inside the folder you downloaded, follow the instructions and click to update.
At this time, do not move or disconnect your valeton and it is important that you use a quality USB cable. The update takes about 3 minutes. Then update the desktop software, which can also be downloaded from the official website.
WHAT IS IMPULSE RESPONSE
Impulse Response is nothing more than a technology that digitally reproduces the sound characteristics of speakers, speakers and microphones. However, this is not a simulation, as the IRs are created from real equipment.
These are typically obtained from professional studios. Thus, a sound engineer emits white noise in a guitar cabinet. This signal is complete in frequencies. Then, a microphone captures the speaker’s “response” to the “impulse”. Finally, software records the spectrum, creating the IR.
In other words, the final format of Impulse Response is a small file, usually in wav format. Thus, it can be “read” by equipment compatible with the technology, such as pedalboards, pedals, software and plugins.
HOW TO LOAD A IMPULSE RESPONSE
To load an Impulse Response (Wave files that simulate cabinets), you need to click on the Load IR icon at the top of your software. Look for the folder where the files are and import.
Attention, the software will always suggest USER IR 1 and if you do not change to another free IR, it will overwrite the IR that is in User IR 1, if one already exists.
WHAT KIND OF EXPRESSION PEDAL YOU CAN USE
If you have a Valeton GP200LT or even the GP200 and want to add an extra expression pedal, be aware that not all pedals can work correctly. One of the examples of pedals that do not work or do not calibrate correctly is the Behringer FCV100 pedal. The Boos FV-500L Pedal works perfectly, despite being more expensive. However, if you want other pedals, it is recommended to test them first.
For those who want to improvise, it is possible to create a momentary or locking DPDT switch pedal. So, when you step on the switch, it automatically goes from 0 to 100 (it has no curve), but it works to activate changes in pedals (locking switch) or even Wah or Whammy (momentary switch). On sites like Ali Express, there are very cheap pedal models with 2 momentary switches, which serve very well to add 2 more CTRL. Remember to use a P10 Stereo (TRS) cable.
TIPS FOR USE IN LINE OR PHYSICAL AMPLIFIER
Differences between using Valeton Live in line or with a physical amplifier. I use it both ways.
I create banks without IR and CAB and banks with IR and CAB
When I connect it to a physical amplifier, I use a distortion pedal, like the DarkTale, based on the ProcoRat. For me, Valeton's best distortion pedal.
As for the drives, I use the OD9 the most.
But if you connect it directly, using Amp and Cab, I don't see the need to add a Distortion, as it can cause a lot of noise.
So, depending on the Amp, which already has a drive, just add some Overdrive to push the sound and you will have a good distortion.
But it's all a matter of testing what suits you best.
I always use Noise Gate 1 on 35 (distortion only)
IMPORTING A PATCHE AND IR
Importing an external patch is very simple.
Right click on any bank you want to replace and select "import"
Choose the patch and click to load. It will bring all the settings from the created patch.
However, if the patch has an external IR, it will not load automatically and you will only need to do this once, but select for all patches that use this IR.
Click on Load IR, load the IR, choose the USERIR position and that's it.
Remember, if you don't tell which USERIR you want to load, it will always be in USER IR 1, and may end up replacing another IR that you have already loaded previously.
Before loading the IR, tell us which USERIR position you want to save
YOUR VALETON IS NOT CONNECTING TO THE SOFTWARE
If your valeton is not connecting to the software, you can try to solve it in 2 ways:
1 - check the device's display by clicking on Global, USB Audio and then whether the USB Mode function is legacy or normal. If it is in Legacy, it will not connect with the software. Just turn the knob to normal.
2 - if it still doesn't work, check the cable. It doesn't have to be the original cable, but it must be a quality cable with high data transfer and in the best USB port on your computer.
CREATING A DROP EB EFFECT
To create a Drop Eb bank, that is, for those who like to play songs half a tone lower or sound like Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Guns, Green Day and several other bands, this is a simple and quick suggestion on how to create a preset to trigger Drop Eb, using Whammy do Pré with the video settings! SETTING UP THE PEDALS (MODE)
Hey guys. In my course, I teach several basic configurations and of course, for the more experienced, this may sound easy, but I guarantee that there are many beginners with simple questions like this.
How to configure your knobs?
Using the GP200LT as an example, with 4 knobs, you can go to global settings, footswitch and assign whatever you want to each of the knobs. Honestly, I don't see any difference between the patch, user and stomp modes, after all, you choose what you want each pedal to activate!
In the example in the video, initially I am using each knob to change the patch (bank). But you can say that I want knob A (FS1) to activate Chorus. To do this, I change the path that was previously Patche 1 to CTRL 1. And in the CTRL settings, I mark Chorus. This makes it possible to activate any pedal or other function such as Looper, Tuner, etc.
You can even keep the 4 knobs as a patch and assign them to FS2+FS3 (knob 2 and knob 3) to activate another pedal (chorus example) if you press both buttons at the same time.
I hope I helped! Watch the video below!
