The Holistic Progress Card (HPC) represents a paradigm shift in the way student learning and development are assessed. It moves beyond the traditional and often narrow framework of examination-driven, summative assessments focused largely on rote memorization, and embraces a 360-degree, multidimensional view of a learner’s progress. Rooted in the principles of formative, competency-based assessment, the HPC is designed to evaluate the learner's growth across cognitive, affective, socio-emotional, and psychomotor domains.
The HPC is not merely a report card; it is a dynamic and personalized profile of each learner. Unlike conventional systems that measure success mainly through marks and ranks, the HPC provides a qualitative and quantitative reflection of the learner’s journey, capturing their strengths, challenges, interests, attitudes, and talents across multiple dimensions.
The Holistic Progress Card (HPC) was conceptualized and recommended under NEP 2020 by the Ministry of Education, GoI. The HPC is meant for all school levels i.e. foundational, preparatory, middle and Secondary stages as defined under the NEP 2020's new 5+3+3+4 structure.
