New skills adopted:
Objectivity - I remained objective throughout this project despite being a K-pop fan to reduce research biasness, thus, the processes (interviews, research, feedbacks) were not skewed towards a favourable outcome.
Adaptability - I faced a few challenges and constraints along the way especially for video editing, but I managed to adapt to the changes needed to be made in order to complete the videos successfully.
New knowledge learnt:
Marketing strategy adopted by K-pop companies and consumer insights
Escapism
Conciseness
TP Student Profile attributes developed:
Self-directed - I took the initiative to manage this project with my partner and set-up consultations with my facilitator pro-actively. Additionally, I constantly monitored both of our progress in this project to ensure we are on par.
Digital and information literate - From the online research done, I was able to recognize the extent of an information needed to cover for this project and evaluate the credibility of the information taken from the sources and past literature reviews done. I also managed to include the necessary information in my educational video effectively and provide knowledge to the audience using a virtual medium.
Communicative & collaborative - This project required me to communicate and collaborate closely with my partner to ensure that we are on the same track. As part of the project, I also collaborated with students in Temasek Polytechnic for the interviews.
Accomplishments:
Understood better about the K-pop phenomenon and the positive aspects of it from an objective perspective
Polished my research and interview skills - Prepared for the interview by doing prior research, conducted the interviews confidently, stayed professional and objective throughout, improved my active listening skills & kept a certain level of professionalism despite the informal interview setting
Applied appropriate psychological concepts to substantiate my findings (i.e., from research and interviews) on the positive side of K-pop
Challenges faced:
Time management - Process of editing took longer than expected, thus failed to meet the deadline set based on action plan
Faced difficulties in video editing (e.g., technical issues on software used) - Managed to figure out the technical difficulties faced
Accidentally deleted one of my completed videos - Had to re-do as I could not recover it
