NEWS:
I will be at ASSA 2025 to chair a panel I organized on "Polarization, Trust, and Institutions".
I will be at the Stanford University, Hoover Institution, conference on Collaborative State and Local Policy Research to present my paper, co-authored with John List, on the political economy of policy experiments [NBER Working Paper here].
I am a Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of Chicago, a visiting researcher at Stanford University and an invited researcher at JPAL North America.
My research focuses on (i) human capital formation (labor and education), and (ii) social capital (trust in public institutions). I use a combination of field, lab, and survey experiment methods, often in partnership with government and private sector organizations, to inform evidence-based decisions that can improve people's lives.
My research has been published in journals such as Games and Economic Behavior and the Journal of Policy Analysis and Management. My work has also been highlighted in media outlets including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Politico, and Washington Post, among others.
Prior to reentering academia, I was the Head of Labor Markets at the Behavioral Insights Team, where I worked with government agencies in Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines to improve programs using behavioral science and to build capacity around rigorous evaluation. I also worked as a consultant for the United Nations and the European Commission.
My name is pronounced "Goo-yell-mo Bree-shae-sae"
