Erratum
The following are rulings and errata for various Warlord cards taken from this page. If you're looking for a ruling on a specific card you'll need to Ctrl+F or select "search in page" if using a mobile browser as the entries are not sorted beyond card types and factions.
Actions
Can be triggered by any save or check, not just ones generated by the caster.
The strike generated by Backswing comes after the -3 ATK penalty is in effect.
It is therefore modified the same as all other strikes for the rest of the turn will be.
Erratum 2008/08/17: In 4E, the collector number should be 178.
May target teammates' or opposing characters.
The Spend Order creates a summoned character.
May be performed by a spent Paladin.
The found steed must be legal to equip at the time the action is performed (No reacts to help can be played to make it equippable). Shuffle afterwards.
You must spend at least one wizard.
Counts the number of wizards actually spent. If a wizard is not spent (does not need to spend for cost of an action) then it will not add to the number of wizards spent.
Use the Level of the character in the discard pile when determining if they are a legal target.
May not be cast if returning the character to play will create an illegal rank.
Cannot return "non-characters" such as Thrice-Fell Horrors to play, since they are not characters in the discard pile.
Removes the card from the game as long as the card has not left play (which would end all effects on it, per usual).
The Paladin's bonus will follow the Paladin as he moves to other ranks, and affects himself and affects any characters that enter the rank later in the turn.
The Barbarian's melee strike is modified by items and/or any modifiers from other card effects. The only thing that doesn't modify it is the character's own ATK bonus, as this is replaced by the +4 Base ATK bonus on the card.
May be performed by a fighter in the front rank as long as one of the other three effects take place.
If you return another copy of Combat Casting to your hand, you may cast it when the game returns to the original trigger (the resolution of your spell). You may not stall the game by cycling two copies of Combat Casting this way, unless there are other reacts or effects being triggered.
The effects of multiple copies in the discard pile stack.
You may discard zero cards. (Zero is always an option with "up to X" as long as the action still produces an effect).
The granted ability can be used to kill opposing characters.
Your Necromancers can perform the action even if they weren't in play when Consume from Within was performed.
Erratum 2007/10/08: The Spend Order should read "Spend Order: Chose an opposing player who targets a character he controls. This character and the opposing character both roll a die and add their ATK to the roll (Deverenians add +5). The character that wins permanently gains +3 ATK, +3 AC, +1 HP and is readied. Remove this card from the game."
When cast by a Summoner, the search for the character uses the caster's Level and counts as draw and retrieval from the deck.
When cast by an Illusionist-Summoner, each of the targeted characters that fails the save allows you to search for a character.
The Spend Order creates a summoned character.
You may target a ready character (or a character that cannot ready), since the action will have an effect even if they do not ready (the skipped order).
The React is played after the action that stunned, spent, or moved the fighter is completed. Any illegal ranks created by the movement are corrected before Defy the Chains is played.
If the wound is reduced or negated then this action is canceled.
This is a spell.
This is a spell.
An 'unwounded' character is one without any wounds currently on them.
Erratum 2007/10/08: The Order should read "Order: Target an opposing non-Warlord character with no items equipped (up to two characters if this is not the first turn): If you have 5 or more characters in your discard pile draw a card. Each target must succeed with a will save (DC 15) or return to its owner's hand."
A character cannot voluntarily fail a saving throw.
Based on the location of the acting character. If the character moves (Or is killed) the effects will follow it (Or end).
You may discard 0 Cards.
The wounds are not removed until after all saves are performed.
You may target a character within one rank, even if there are five or more characters in your discard pile. The ranged strike will work against such a target.
Druids may perform this action while spent.
Any item that affects the targeted character has its bonuses turned into penalties, regardless of who has it equipped.
Affected items are changed for all characters that might normally benefit from it, not just the targeted character.
Erratum 2007/10/08: The Order should read "Order: Discard any number of cards, up to this character's Level: Perform a +2 ranged strike. Then perform a +0 ranged strike for each card discarded."
You may discard 0 Cards.
A character that is +1 Level for playing spells/actions are treated as one level higer for the number of cards they may discard.
The bonus is set when the action's cost is paid.
These melee strikes are modified by items and/or any modifiers from other card effects. The only thing that doesn't modify it is the character's own ATK bonus, as this is replaced by the ATK bonus on the card.
Prevents any form of react being performed while the Movement or Strike is being made.
Bonuses to ATK stack on top of the base of +4.
Static effects like Fevered Shade are not actions and will not trigger Final Blessing.
The ranged strike will still be performed against the target no matter where he moves, since he has already been declared the target.
The original targeting of the action can be redirected, but the ranged strike itself cannot (since the target has already been set).
Marksmanship can be used at the time of the skipped order, but only to gain a +5 bonus to the roll or an additional wound.
Erratum 2007/10/08: The Spend Order should read "Spend Order: Target character within two ranks may not perform actions printed on himself or his items, until end of turn."
Erratum 2007/04/21: The Spend Order should read "Spend Order: Target non-Warlord character card must succeed with a will save (DC 20) or return to its owner's hand."
The save must be made even if the strike misses.
If the action on the item spends, stuns, or readies the item, then it remains in that orientation.
If the item leaves play, it is returned to its owner's hand, deck, discard pile, etc.
Actions that put a character directly into play implicitly grant control of the character to the acting player. Thus, using Gimme That on a Figurine will grant you control of the resulting character. The same is true of using Gimme That on Binder's Staff.
Move the characters that fail the save as each one does.
If the character to be returned to play is removed from the game (e.g., Dev'irga, Ashling), then your turn is skipped and the targeted character is not retrieved.
The melee strike will still be perfomed against the target no matter where he moves, since he has already been declared the target.
The original targeting of the action can be redirected, but the melee strike itself cannot (since the target has already been set).
Erratum 2012/05/05: The Spend Order should read "Spend Order: Target up to two non-opposing characters, you may inflict a wound on each: Each target performs a melee strike. If he suffered a wound, he gains +5 ATK and Powerattack +5 for this strike."
The effects of multiple copies in the discard pile stack.
You must discard at least one card. (Zero Effect rule)
May be used if a character attacks twice as stated in the rules. However, if either attack is generated from another source (i.e. Bull Rush, Ahdi's react), Infinity's End may not be played. [Nick Simmonds, 2005/04/11]
The Spend Order creates a summoned character.
Even a Critical Success that missed an Astral character will trigger Inspiring Strike.
You can perform this action without spending any additional wizards.
This is a spell.
The Spend Order creates a summoned character.
This is a spell.
This is a spell.
"Bonuses" refers to positive increases of the numeric stats of a character, not counting feats.
Erratum 2012/05/05: The Spend Order should read "Spend Order: Target non-Warlord character within 3 ranks must succeed with a will save (DC 8 + this wizard's Skill) or perform an order of your choice. You gain control of the target for the duration of the order."
Erratum: The Order should read "Order: Perform an Order on an adjacent character as if it were printed on this character, paying all costs as necessary."
Erratum: There's a React that should read "React: Play when a React on an adjacent character could be performed as if it were printed on this character. Perform the action as if this character had that printed text."
Erratum 2006/04/14: The ability granted by Move as One should read "React: After another character in your army performs an Order: This character performs an Order."
Erratum 2005/05/06: The React should read "React: Before this character makes a melee strike roll: If this character is a fighter, gain an ATK bonus equal to twice this character's level for this strike."
You may target a character without an item equipped.
You may discard 0 cards.
Erratum 2007/08/28: The Order should read "Order: Spend any number of fighters in your army: After this order, perform an Order for each fighter spent, and then an Order for each Ranger spent."
You must spend at least one fighter.
Erratum 2007/08/16: The last sentence should read "These strikes may not receive any bonus to ATK, and ignore all bonuses and penalties to the target's AC."
You must spend at least one rogue.
Forcing the target to make a save does not depend on whether the acting wizard made his skill check.
This action is not played until after all effects of the triggering action card have been performed.
Plot Hook is not a cleric action or spell, even when performed by a Seer.
You may reveal a dungeon but not put it into your hand, just to shuffle your deck.
The melee strike does not have to target the additional rank away, and may target your own characters.
The movement effect of the action does not incite the Illegal Effect rule, because it is not required. However, if you have a character that can move forward then it must be moved.
This melee strike uses the character's first strike as a base and is modified by items and/or any modifiers from other card effects.
Erratum 2007/04/21: The Spend Order should read "Spend Order: Target a lower-level non-Warlord character who must make a will save (DC 20). If that character fails the save, that character gains Stealth +15 and is under your control until the end of the turn."
Necromancers may perform this action while spent.
Does not count as retrieval from the discard pile.
Number of cards in hand are checked when each strike is performed.
The ranged strikes are considered 'from a spell' (or spell-generated) - they ignore Astral and Ethereal, gain bonuses or additional wounds from effects like Ring of Blasting or Allestair the Attentive, and cannot have Marksmanship applied.
Magic Resistance cannot be used when targeted by the ranged strikes, since MR is a react to an Action targeting the character.
Items and character effects can reduce and remove the wounds. It only excludes the use of action cards.
For example, the react granted by The Broken Earth will remove his wounds, and he will retain the Reckless Abandon effects until the end of turn (no matter how many times his react is used).
Any healing ("before suffering wounds") reacts are played before Reflect is triggered. It is played after the wounds are suffered by the character, but before death is checked for.
The number of wounds reduced and the number of wounds inflicted can be changed (by effects like the Ring of Blasting) independently of each other.
The fighter must be a legal target for the action, and not already targeted by it.
You may target a character with this and not remove a wound from it. You may leave wounds on a character.
You must spend at least one cleric.
This is a spell.
Erratum 2007/10/08: The granted ability should read "React: Once per game, after this character performs a melee strike that wounded target lower Level character: Kill the target."
The character is only Level 9 for the effect of this Action. Reacts and static effects on other cards (including the performing character and his items) will use the character's actual Level.
Whether the target is lower Level is based on the rogue's current Level, not the Level they were when they performed the Order.
Erratum 2007/08/16: The Order should read "Order: Until end of turn, characters may not target characters of higher Level with melee or ranged strikes."
The character is only Level 9 for the effect of this action. Reacts and static effects on other cards (including the performing character and his items) will use the character's actual Level.
The character is only Level 9 for the effect of this Action. Reacts and static effects on other cards (including the performing character and his items) will use the character's actual Level.
These melee strikes are modified by items and/or any modifiers from other card effects. The only thing that doesn't modify it is the character's own ATK bonus, as this is replaced by the ATK bonus on the card.
Even characters in the front rank must save. They do not spend, stun, wound or move if they fail, but they still must roll.
The character is only Level 9 for the effect of this action. Reacts and static effects on other cards (including the performing character and his items) will use the character's actual Level.
Erratum: The Sigil of Bonding will not prevent an item from destroying itself.
Erratum 2007/08/28: The Spend Order should read "Order: On each of your Orders this turn, if this character is not in the front rank and can move forward, skip that Order and move this character forward one rank."
If the character is unable to move forward, the Order is not skipped.
Erratum 2007/10/08: The Spend Order should read "Spend Order: Spend X clerics in your army: The next X + 1 times any character in play would suffer wounds this turn, reduce the wounds suffered by one."
Erratum 2007/08/16: The Spend Order should read "Spend Order: Spend X clerics in your army: Reduce to zero the next wound done to a character in play this turn, and reduce to zero the next X wounds done to characters in play this turn after the first."
Can reduce the wounds from Medusan Lord's Gambit, since it is an ongoing effect not a react.
A character only 'suffers wounds' once per wounding, even if multiple wounds are being inflicted. Thus, Soothing Aura will reduce the number inflicted by one, but will no longer negate all the wounds.
The consequences of each failed save are applied when the save is failed. Thus, a Level one character will die when it fails a single save and Soul Siphon will only grant one of your characters a single HP.
If multiple copies are played in response to a single character entering play, the first failed save will stun the character and the next failed save will kill.
Fix any illegal ranks created by the death of your character before taking control of the opposing character.
Once the opposing character comes under your control, they are no longer part of the opposing army. This may create an illegal rank.
This is a spell.
Erratum 2010/05/01: The React should read "React: Before target opposing character moves without spending or stunning: The target does not move. This rogue may move forward or backward one rank."
Scouts may perform this action while spent.
Return the remaining cards in their original order - do not shuffle.
If the performing player uses this action on his own deck, it counts as retrieval from the deck.
Fix ranks before putting the Lesser Fiend into play.
The level of the target is based on the level the character had while in play, not in the discard pile.
Erratum 2007/09/14: The Spend Order should read "Spend Order: Target a spent but not stunned lower-Level character: Ready the target. If this character is a Cantor, the target has +5 ATK, AC and Skill until end of turn. If this character is a Druid, you may move the target forward or backward one rank. If this character is a Seer, the target's next die roll this turn is a Critical Success."
Characters in the first rank cannot fall forward, and so may not be targeted by this action.
The effects of multiple copies in the discard pile stack.
You must discard at least one card. (Zero Effect rule)
You may not play the same Taunting Blow card a second time in response to the same strike, if it is returned to your hand. (A single react may only be used once)
If you have two copies of Taunting Blow in your hand, you need to demonstrate this fact (to a judge at least) before playing the second.
The effects of multiple copies in the discard pile stack.
You must discard at least one card. (Zero Effect rule)
Does allow you to move into opposing armies.
The two checks aren't linked, and both must be rolled.
You may discard 0 cards.
This melee strike is modified by items and/or any modifiers from other card effects. The only thing that doesn't modify it is the character's own ATK bonus, as this is replaced by the +0 base ATK bonus on the card.
If the target manages to equip an item or gain a level after being targeted, it doesn't die.
This is a spell.
This is a spell.
This is a spell.
Erratum 2004/07/28: Should read "Monks may play Uncanny Defense as rogues. React: After this character is targeted with a melee or ranged strike: Add this character's skill to his AC for the duration of the strike. Spend Order: If this character is a Monk, attach this card. While it is attached, this Monk may use this card once per turn as if he was a rogue playing it from your hand."
The duration of all actions is the time is takes to perform them. In the case of generating an ongoing effect (such as Lift Up Your Voices or Raze), the action ends once the effect is in place - they do not have the same duration.
These strikes cannot be redirected, since the action states that they all target the original attacker.
The fighter must have a subclass to perform this action. (Zero Effect rule)
Any action which causes a character's rank to change (Your character, or someone else's) is an action to move and is prevented by this card.
Scouts may use Marksmanship before choosing the new target of the strike.
The rogue must have a subclass to perform this action. (Zero Effect rule)
In the event you are unable to discard cards from your hand (due to a card effect or having zero cards in hand), the action is still legal because discarding the cards is not a cost.
The -5 penalty to skill will be in effect for this action's save.
Deverenian Characters
May react to any initiative roll.
The spell removed from the game for the cost of her Order will reduce her bonus to the Order's magic save.
The React counts as retrieval from the discard pile if you choose to return a spell to your hand.
Ramah can kill himself for his react, with full effect.
He gains the stat augmentation as soon as the strike or action is redirected before any other reacts and before the strike or action continues resolving.
The melee strike must have inflicted a wound in order to use the react.
Banishing the wound completely prevents the use of the kill react.
A Deverenian card, is a character card with the Deverenian trait.
Since his react is after the strike is completed, Baudwyn needs to have survived it.
A strike that is redirected away from Baudwyn is not one that has targeted Baudwyn. The strike must target Baudwyn through resolution to trigger his react.
The number of strikes she makes is set when the action's cost is paid.
The bonuses include the character discarded for the cost.
The action may only be performed if you won ANY initiative roll this turn.
Only affects the very next action card played by your Warlord.
When he reacts to copy Anointed by the Storm, he only copies the bonus HP. He is reacting after playing the action, and the action has only given out that bonus at that point.
The opposing player cannot be prevented from drawing the four cards by any card effect, since you are the one forcing them to draw.
The spell removed from the game for the cost of her Order will reduce her bonus to the Order's ranged strike.
You may discard Ghed Bodmin to the action he grants.
All redirection must be to a legal target.
May not target a stunned character.
Erratum 2006/06/26: All characters with the Stormwraith flavor text are considered to have that trait.
Erratum 2007/08/16: Her React should read "React: After a melee or ranged strike roll, remove a d20 from Ginerva: Change the die roll to the value on the removed d20."
Ginerva's static Initiative text is only triggered by rolling for Initiative during the Initiative phase.
Ginerva may not use Invoke Doom after using her react. The number she changed the die roll to was a preset value.
Ginerva may use her react after another Ginerva has reacted to change the die roll, as long as the first Ginerva did not change the roll to a '1' or '20'. In fact, she cannot change a Critical Success or Failure with her react.
Erratum 2005/04/26: The first React should read "React: Once per turn, after another character enters play and performs a React printed on himself: Chyre performs the same React."
Erratum 2005/04/26: The second React should read "Spend React: After a character targets Chyre with a melee strike: Move Chyre back one rank. The strike is cancelled."
The target must be equal or lower level than Inquisitor Tamas.
Erratum 2005/04/26: His ability should read "If your Warlord is Deverenian, you may bring Isadran Warrior into play in any of your ranks of 3 or higher adjacent to a rank you occupy. Isadran Warrior gains a permanent ATK bonus equal to the rank he entered play."
The spell discarded for the cost of his Order adds to his skill for the Order's magic save.
All initiative rolls are made by your Warlord.
The additional Level only affects her while she is in play and does not affect where she enters play.
Her react can only be used once per Order (as usual), but can be used in response to the additional Order that the react grants. Thus, Lady Drac can perform several Orders in a row.
She changes the strike's ATK to 0, not just it's base. Items, ongoing effects, etc are all 'wiped out'.
Only bonuses generated after her React will add to the die roll.
Her Nightfall Order cannot be performed if there is no other Deverenian to gain the HP. (Zero Effect rule)
All initiative rolls are made by the Warlord.
Add any bonuses to the roll as normal.
Erratum 2006/06/26: All characters with the Stormwraith flavor text are considered to have that trait.
If the revealed card is not a spell, it is put back on the deck and the deck shuffled.
To pay the cost of stunning a character, that character must be unstunned beforehand.
Erratum 2006/06/26: All characters with the Stormwraith flavor text are considered to have that trait.
Her Daybreak React will affect characters that enter the front rank later in the turn.
Her Nightfall React counts as retrieval from the deck, and does not have to be revealed to other players. Shuffle the deck before placing the card on top.
Erratum 2007/10/08: The Order should read "Order: Once per turn, kill a Deverenian in this rank: Ready Sir Argen Undying."
Cannot kill himself for his Order. (Zero Effect rule)
His Daybreak Order can only be used to ready a Steed that is equipped to him.
He benefits from both of his own effects.
His granted React is used by the Illusionist to redirect the strike from themselves to an adjacent character. That is, 'this character' becomes self-referential to the Illusionist.
If you make multiple initiative rolls in a turn, Sir Willems can react to each. The bonuses and/or extra strikes are cumulative.
In SE, the collector number should be 12.
His own level counts, so he can always use the ability at least once.
Does not gain the bonuses per Weapon. She either has a Weapon or not.
Erratum 2007/10/08: The React should read "React: Once per turn, after one of your Deverenians performs an action that redirected a melee strike or action, kill one of your Deverenians: Draw a card."
Can redirect actions and non-attack melee strikes back onto the performing character if they are a legal target.
He reacts to kill a Deverenian and draw a card after the redirecting action is complete. If he kills the new target, the strike or action will likely fizzle.
Erratum 2007/10/08: The Spend Order should read "Spend Order: Return target Shield, Steed or Weapon you control to its owner's hand: Put any number of item cards into play from your hand that you may legally play."
His Spend Order can equip the returned item to someone, including the character it was taken from.
Erratum 2012/05/05: The static text should read "Your Deverenian Warlord gains +3 to initiative rolls."
Erratum 2012/05/05: The React should read "React: Once per turn, after a Deverenian you control performs an order: You may perform a Decree."
His Daybreak ability counts as draw and retrieval from the deck. You must reveal the Steed to prove that it is a Steed of the appropriate Level.
His Nightfall ability will trigger if he becomes your Warlord in a Jautya Syne deck, but the +5 bonus is gone before the first turn begins.
His Nightfall ability only grants its bonuses to characters in his current rank.
Dwarf Characters
Erratum 2007/09/14: Its React should read "React: Once per turn, after target Gargoyle you control is killed: Reveal the top 10 cards of your deck. You may put a revealed Gargoyle of equal or lower Level than the target into play ready in target's former location in any formation. Shuffle the remaining cards into your deck."
Fix any illegal ranks before performing the React.
You may use the React to 'replace' a Gargoyle that was in your opponent's formation.
The chosen Gargoyle must be able to come into play legally (cannot create an illegal rank, possible cleric restrictions, etc), but does not count as being 'played from hand' (Athril Gargoyle).
The Dwarf must meet Level and class requirements to equip the targeted item.
The item can be moved while ready.
The 'equipped item' that is spent must be equipped to Caldor.
Like Korin Blackstone, this is a healing action, and preventing a healing action prevents this.
May use the Daybreak React to reduce wounds done to himself.
Multiple copies of Danres may react to the same instance of wounding to reduce multiple wounds.
Shuffle after using her ability.
"Permanent bonus" only refers to changes to a character's numeric stats, excluding feats.
He must meet Level and class requirements for equipping the Weapon. Shuffle your deck.
Duri's bonus to feats doesn't affect special abilities that require feat checks, such as Hide in Shadows.
Only when he is using the feat, as written in the rulebook, does he gain the bonus.
You may discard Eamon Geist to the action he grants.
The action that Eamon's granted React modifies must be a legal action before his React is used. That is, there must be a wounded or stunned Dwarf that is targeted by it.
Erratum 2007/08/21: The last sentence should read "While Edge, Fiendblight is adjacent to two Barbarians, his melee strikes inflict an additional wound. He has +4 ATK against evil characters."
His react will be triggered by either of the actions granted by the Stealth feat - he can be ready after he 'stealths' into an opposing army.
Erratum 2006/04/14: His React should read "React: Once per turn, before one of your target Dwarves suffers wounds, inflict that many wounds on Flamefang: Reduce the wounds suffered by the target to zero, move forward or backward one rank."
For the purposes of the discarded card, remember that actions that say 'Rogue only' or 'Cleric only' are rogue or cleric actions, respectively.
The Dwarf that is unstunned does not have to be the Dwarf that was wounded.
The React counts as retrieval from the discard pile.
May give both bonuses to himself.
May target any Dwarf rogue/cleric with his ability.
Erratum 2006/08/08: Its react should read "React: Before an opposing character casts a spell or performs a ranged strike, spend a cleric in your army: Put Jet Gargoyle into play adjacent to the acting character, even if he is in an opposing formation. If you don't control a wizard, Jet Gargoyle enters play spent."
If Karena has no item equipped, this ability has no effect and may not be performed.
If the targeted item is later removed, the bonus remains.
This action is technically healing, and can be prevented by effects that prevent healing.
If Korin has no wounds, he cannot perform the Order.
It is not a +5 bonus for each wound, it is +5 for one or more wounds.
The bonuses from multiple copies of Lambaste stack.
Can use his ability even if there are no other Gargoyles in the rank (He kills himself).
Erratum 2008/10/07: His static text should read "Ranged strikes and save DCs from actions performed by Loki from items gain +2."
If the wound from his Daybreak React is reduced or negated, then the action is canceled. The wound may be removed at a later time without penalty.
Opal Gargoyle may ready him even after he has gained additional melee strikes from his Nightfall React (they do not count as 'printed').
The number of times per turn he can use his ability is based on his current level. If he has used it once, but is level 2, he may use it again.
The bonuses from multiple copies of Nilrem stack.
If his react is canceled, Nolen still suffers the wound as it is a cost.
His ready ability has no effect if he is not in the front rank, and so may not be used.
His Order allows him to cast Spend Order and React spells while spent.
He may still spend to be counted for spells like Chaotic Flames, if he wants.
His Nightfall text causes him to enter play stunned - he does not enter play then become stunned. Similarly, he does not suffer the wound - he just has a wound when he enters play.
His Nightfall text only requires you to have a character in the fourth rank when playing him from your hand.
If he becomes your Warlord in a Jautya Syne deck, he enters play ready and unwounded in the third rank.
Erratum: Dragon Slayer is a flavor trait. Scale is not a Dragon.
Success on the check is what causes him to spend, so if you fail, he doesn't spend.
May only react once to a single 'healing' effect, regardless of whether one or all wounds are removed.
The additional wound from the Nightfall React affects Assassins that enter play later in the turn.
The melee strike uses the +6 ATK as a base and is modified by items and/or any modifiers from other card effects.
He may not create an illegal rank when he enters play with his Daybreak React, unless another effect allows otherwise.
The bonus is set when the action's cost is paid.
If the target leaves play, the bonus remains.
Elf Characters
Erratum 2007/09/14: The React should read "React: Once per turn, after killing an opposing character with a melee strike, remove it from the game: Perform a ranged strike with a bonus equal to the Level of the killed character."
The cost for the react is to reduce the wounds to 0. If somehow her action is cancelled, she still inflicts no wounds with the strike.
The react cannot be used if the strike would already inflict no wounds due to other card effects.
This effect only happens once the wounds actually go on a character. If, say, a level 3 cleric tries to banish a wound from himself, he will do so before the wound prevents him casting it.
If suffering a wound is a cost of an action (e.g. Primal Rage) the level loss incurred doesn't hinder the ability to meet the level requirement of THAT action.
Erratum 2003/10/17: His React should read "React: When a character in your army is killed by an opposing character's action, Andel is +1 level for casting spells until the end of the turn."
Cards such as Consume from within, or No Rest cannot revive a killed Lorand. However, cards like Forgotten can return whatever card he is made from to its owner's hand.
The ability to put him into play cannot be used if a Lorand is already in play under your control.
The static text happens after Reacts to rolling Initiative but before it is determined which player wins Initiative.
The static text triggers on any Initiative roll.
If several players have an Ashling in their discard piles, the player who won Initiative for the previous turn goes first.
Erratum 2007/08/28: "Order: Once per Turn: Perform a +3 ranged strike. Kill Ashling"
Any of his ranged strikes can target characters in an adjacent rank, not just the one from his React.
May use her ability on both friendly and unfriendly targets.
This will affect the level of action cards the targeted character can perform.
If the target also has an after-targeting React, then handle React priority in initiative order.
This effect cannot be used in conjunction with other effects to reduce the target's level below 1 (It stops working).
When performing 1st and 2nd Level wizard actions he will be considered both a wizard and a rogue for only the effects of that action. For all other Reacts and effects during the action, he is just a rogue.
The React is retrieval from the Discard pile.
The effect only cares when the spell was cast (the next one this turn) and not when it actually killed someone. For example, if Donatien cast Contagion as his next spell, and that contagion kills a character on the following turn, he immediately gains +2 levels and +4 skill.
Since the ranged strikes from the Daybreak Order stun instead of wound any effect that would increase the number of wounds does not affect it.
The effect is not an action, so any React that triggers off "after targeted by an action" will not be triggered by his text.
Fevered Shade may remove himself to obtain the effects of his own static text.
The +1 Level applies to her scribe checks (allowing Level 2 fighter actions).
The React is retrieval from the discard pile. It is optional whether to put any Undead into play.
A character with more than one of the named subclasses will count for multiple effects.
Any character within one rank can count - including opposing ones.
Erratum 2003/10/17: His React should read "React: After Geltran is targeted with an opposing character's melee strike, if he is spent, you may take one character card from your discard pile and add it to your hand."
If the card discarded for the cost of his Order is a character, it will increase the penalty the target suffers if you choose your own discard pile.
May target a character that has no items equipped.
Only the removed character is targeted.
As this is a search effect, shuffle your deck afterwards.
The comparison of levels is checked at the time wounds are being inflicted.
Erratum 2005/05/25: His Order should read "Order: Reveal a card from your hand: Perform a Scribe check (DC 20). If successful, attach the card to Osud, face-down. You may detach and play the card at any time as if from your hand. If unsuccessful, discard it."
The Scribe action is retrieval if the card comes from the discard pile.
The Nightfall Order's melee strike uses the character's first strike as a base and is modified by items and/or any modifiers from other card effects.
The DC is set when the action's cost is paid; Noelani's death wont help the ability.
Characters with level 0 or lower are killed.
May only react once to a single 'healing' effect, regardless of whether one or all wounds are removed.
The wounds he inflicts may not be reduced (or negated) at the time they are inflicted, but they may be removed later.
Actions are Orders or Reacts.
Feats and abilities granted through static text (e.g. Blacksnake Whip) are not actions printed on the item.
You may discard Orne to the action he grants.
Erratum: Her ability should read "Characters targeting Quadlibet with melee strikes and ranged strikes receive no bonuses of any kind to the die roll. Effects which would raise Quadlibet's AC are ignored."
The class he gains is in addition to his existing classes
The Order is retrieval from the discard pile.
He is spent when he is killed. If you Consume from Within him, he returns to play spent.
Erratum 2007/10/08: The Order should read "Order: Once per turn, kill one of your Elves: Reveal the top five cards of your deck. You may put a revealed spell into your hand."
If the character killed for the cost of her Order does not die (eg. Skyyrek), then the cost is not considered paid and the action is canceled.
Her Order is draw and retrieval from the deck if you choose to put a revealed spell into your hand.
It cannot be performed when you have no cards in the deck. (Zero Effect rule)
If you have both 3 or more Necromancers and 3 or more Summoners, then Shambling Flesh gets both bonuses.
A character that has both traits would help meet the requirements for either effect.
The Order is retrieval from the deck.
Erratum 2007/10/08: The React should read "React: Once per turn, after one of your Elves dies, discard 1 card: Put a level 1 Elf from your discard pile into play."
The React may return to play the character that died or the card that was discarded (if it was a character) and counts as retrieval from the discard pile.
The discarded card comes from your hand (not your deck).
If an Elf is put into play, the React is retrieval from the discard pile.
If the Elf would enter play in Thekem's army (i.e. a stealthed character was killed), it can ignore normal rank restrictions but must not create an illegal rank.
The Order is retrieval from the discard pile.
Fix any illegal ranks before proceeding with the effects of the Order.
React will be triggered by falling forward only when some effect (eg. Griffon of Misear) negates the spending or stunning.
All five cards are placed back together - it is your choice in which order and whether top or bottom, but the cards 'stay together'.
If used on your own deck, the react is retrieval from the deck.
There must be a Monster or Undead within one rank in order for the Order to be used. (Zero Effect rule)
If the wound is reduced to zero, then no wound is removed from one of your Elves. Because of this 'uncertainty', you do no have to have a wounded Elf in order to perform the action.
If you have a wounded Elf, and a wound is inflicted, then you must remove a wound.
The bonus to another Elf may be given to the same Elf multiple times.
Free Kingdoms characters
Erratum 2004/06/29: "Friar Rey" should be "Adept Rey".
The wound from his React is inflicted before the effect(s) of failing the save. The wound Arden inflicts is separate from any effect the original action has.
The lower-level check applies to the level of the characters while in your hand. Kenrick or Lilika help him put much higher level characters into play with this ability.
He keeps the feat he gives himself past the end of the turn.
If a character uses a feat, loses the trait, then regains it (eg. moving out of then back into Arve's rank) - it is still considered used and cannot be used again.
The React is used after the wound has been suffered (i.e. after any 'healing' effect) but before it is determined whether the character has been killed.
The number of +0 strikes he makes is set when the action's cost is paid. Characters that enter or leave play will not change that number.
If you have more than one Warlord in play, you may choose which to inflict the wound upon, however you subtract ALL your Warlords' levels from Constable Juris' stats. The difference is between static text that is always on, and ability text which only tries to find a Warlord.
Erratum 2003/10/17: His React should read "React: After a higher-level character in your army rolls a natural '20', ready Daric."
The levels must be exactly the same.
Compare levels after the character enters play (It may be affected by Lilika Zane or Kenrick).
Affects characters that enter play later in the turn as well.
His Nightfall effect grants an additional strike and the ATK bonus for each Charge.
Does not break the 3 copies per deck rule.
Does override the rule that characters with the Warlord trait lose that trait when they enter play.
If he would be a legal target for the melee or ranged strike by the character affected by his Order, then Ferris must be targeted by the strike.
If two Ferris Bachmans have affected the same character with the Order, then that character may freely choose between them when targeting.
The Order does not force the affected character to perform actions or strikes - it only limits his targeting choices when he does.
Both Reacts may target any character in play.
The bonuses will affect characters that enter the rank later in the turn.
The bonuses will continue affecting the rank until the end of turn, even if Haden is killed or moves to another rank.
He gets a bonus for having his initial 1 level.
He doesn't modify how characters enter play.
The ability granted to the opposing warlord will only remove ONE Kenrick, even if several are in the discard pile.
Can't use her ability unless she is level 5 or greater, as it would do nothing otherwise.
The benefits she gives are not permanent; they are until end of game. A very fine line, but important.
She doesn't affect how characters enter play.
The ranged strike from the Daybreak React can target a character within two ranks.
All players see the revealed cards.
Affects characters that enter play later in the turn.
The target can be himself.
Effects that change the wounds on a character target that character, however preventing wounds from being inflicted does not.
Compare levels after the spell has been cast (e.g. Strengthen).
He can use his ATK pump ability even if it will kill him.
Can give other player's Free Kingdoms levels, as long as they are not Oliver Zane or of equal or higher level.
Losing a level is not a cost of the action, and his new, lower level, doesn't take effect until after the levels are compared.
The React affects characters that enter the front rank later that turn.
His morph ability can only be used if he's level 5 or greater.
If the action is cancelled, he cannot use it again.
The ranged strike's bonus is based on the spell's printed Level, not the Level the other wizard may have cast it as (such as Face of Mirrors from an Illusionist).
Erratum 2011/12/20: The React should read "React: Once per turn, before target character you control suffers wounds, inflict a wound on a different character: Reduce the target's wounds by 1."
The bonus is set when the action's cost is paid.
May target other people's Free Kingdoms as long as they are within one rank.
Fix any illegal ranks created by the Order's movement-cost before gaining the bonuses.
Erratum 2007/10/08: "Shadan Alder enters play spent." was changed to "Shadan Alder may not start in play."
The bonuses from his Nightfall effect are not dependent upon entering play after the first turn.
The Spend Order will return him to his owner's hand regardless of control.
Starting armies are revealed before your first hand is drawn.
Lucian's leveling ability compares the killing Free Kingdoms to the killed opposing character, not Sir Lucian to the opposing character.
He may use his ability on himself.
Erratum 2010/12/21: He receives an additional Hit Point (4 HP total).
Erratum 2010/12/21: The Order should read "Order: Twice per turn: Until end of turn, target adjacent Free Kingdoms has an additional melee strike (base = target's primary ATK) when he attacks. If Sir Robert is in the first rank the target may perform an order."
Erratum: His first React should read "React: Inflict a wound on Tython after he is targeted with another player's action that moves, spends, stuns, or kills him, to cancel the action and ready him."
When Tavon becomes the Warlord, he can wound himself to use his movement ability.
He cannot target the same character twice with the movement ability during a given turn, but can otherwise perform it any number of times per turn.
If you have more than one Warlord in play, you may choose which to inflict the wound upon.
Only checks the character's actual level, not the level they enter play at (Colter Arden still enters play one rank lower).
Erratum 2006/10/18: The Lady of Mercy is, in fact, level 4.
The bonuses from multiple copies of the Daybreak effect stack.
Your characters gain the Lycanthrope bold trait from the Nightfall effect.
Mercenary characters
Only you may see all five cards - they are not revealed.
The discarded card, of course, is discarded face up.
Fix any illegal ranks created by the Blaze's death before retrieving the Inferno.
The static effect will always trigger from any attack, even if you know there is no Inferno to retrieve.
Fix any illegal ranks created by the Candle's death before retrieving the Blaze.
The static effect will always trigger from any missed strike, even if you know there is no Blaze to retrieve.
If the Inferno's strike kills the targeting character, the action that character was performing ends immediately, but still considered performed.
The strike from the Inferno's React cannot be redirected, since the only legal target is the original targeting character.
MRP 2004/03/29: Campaign Edition starters reprinted this with "DC = target's AC".
Erratum 2007/08/16: May only be played in Open.
He may not target characters that fall forward (no 'action' was performed).
His ranged strike targets the character that performed the action to move, which may be different than the character that actually moved.
The ranged strike is not limited by rank restrictions.
It is performed after the entire action has completed.

Erratum 2007/08/16: May only be played in Open.
The React occurs after the action, not when the level changes.
A single action that modifies many different levels would only trigger Gaban once (Such as Oliver Zane using his ability).

Her targeting restriction applies to any ranged strike she performs.
Your rank structure must be able to support the retrieved character coming into play legally.
Any 'copy' effect that the retrieved character has, that is based on your warlord, copies Jautya Syne.
If two players both reveal Jautya Syne as their Warlord, then they roll-off to see who will trigger his text first.
Erratum 2007/08/28: Characters may not perform actions before the first turn. Thus, any 'entering play' Reacts cannot be used.

The React is not retrieval since the character comes from an opponent's discard pile.
No loyalty penalty is applied as it states the character enters play ready.
The ATK bonus from the Nightfall effect comes from the Dungeon's printed CR only. Bonuses from other effects, such as Malrog's Lair's text, do not count.
The effect is not optional.

Nothrog characters
Fix any illegal ranks caused by the cost of the first Order before performing the strike.
The React cannot be used to put characters into play in an illegal rank, unless an effect would allow otherwise.
Both characters enter play (one at a time, triggering reacts to a character entering play as appropriate) before either is moved forward.
Correct any illegal ranks caused by the first character's movement before moving the second character.
May be performed if you have one or no Nothrog in your hand.
The React is triggered before it is determined who won the Initiative roll. If two or more players wish to use the react, the preceding turn's Initiative winner goes first. If it is the first turn, a pre-initiative roll-off is required to see who goes first (this is a straight roll that cannot have any reacts or modifiers).
The character triggers all reacts to entering play and entering the rank as normal.
When performing wizard actions, he will be considered both a wizard and a rogue for only the effects of that action. For all other reacts and effects during the action, he is just a rogue.
He may use his React even if the spell is canceled.

When performing his Daybreak React, he moves all three ranks at once. He does not move forward three separate times.
There does not need to be another legal target in order to use his Nightfall React.
His React will give the character an additional HP before the wounds are 'on' the character and before death is checked for.
An action that kills multiple characters (eg. Magic Missiles) will only trigger the React once, after the action has completely resolved.
She uses her react AFTER the strike has been made completely.

The melee strike uses the character's first strike as a base and is modified by items and/or any modifiers from other card effects.
The wound is suffered after the attack has completely resolved. It may be inflicted upon Krasin.
You must be able to legally play the Siege character.
The ranged strike inflicts no wounds even if you apply an effect like Strain the Shot
May equip ANY item so long as one of its traits is Weapon.
However, it may not equip any number of Shields so a Double Bladed Sword and Nothrog S'sike can't both be equipped.
Ignores AC bonuses from all items, not just the ones equipped by the target.
If a character uses the Powerattack feat, loses the trait, then regains it (eg. moving out of then back into Nemtok's rank) - it is still considered used and cannot be used again.
The strike is made by the character that has entered play and uses the character's first strike as a base and is modified by items and/or any modifiers from other card effects.
His react may be performed when the character from B'haya the Fiend's react enters play.
Erratum 2007/10/08: The Order should read "Spend Order: Once per turn, target a character: Each opponent chooses a target character other than the one you chose. You must move one target forward one rank, if possible. Move the rest backward one rank."
Orazhuk's controller decides which character moves forward and in which order the rest are moved backward.
Any character in play may be selected as a target by this action.
Choosing a character counts as targeting that character with this action, even the characters that the opposing players choose.
If no character can move forward, than all of the targets are moved backward.
Note that if the stat bonus option is chosen, Pogris is also readied.
May move stunned characters.
May look at any player's top five cards, even the controlling player's.
Only you may see all five cards - they are not revealed.
The removed card is shown to everyone.
The melee strikes is modified by items and/or any modifiers from other card effects. The only thing that doesn't modify it is the character's own ATK bonus, as this is replaced by the ATK bonus on the card.
Other cards may further modify the number of wounds he inflicts.
The ATK bonus adds to the (base +1) strike.
He does in fact allow ALL of your Nothrog to equip two Weapons.
These melee strikes are modified by items and/or any modifiers from other card effects. The only thing that doesn't modify it is the character's own ATK bonus, as this is replaced by the ATK bonus on the card.
The Nightfall Order counts as retrieval.
You must have at least one card in your deck in order to perform the Order, but do not have to have ten.
The react kills your character after the hit is confirmed and before any wounds are inflicted.
Thus, no reacts that are triggered by inflicting a wound (eg. Claidh Mor) or killing with a melee strike (eg. Bloodthirsty, No Prisoners) may be performed.
Reacts that are triggered by hitting with a melee strike (eg. Double-Bladed Sword) may still be performed.
Erratum 2010/05/01: Has +2 ATK.
The Charge he gains from the Nightfall Order will be included when the action calculates the bonus.
You may discard Vaeghen to the action he grants.
The melee strike is modified by items and/or any modifiers from other card effects. The only thing that doesn't modify it is the character's own ATK bonus, as this is replaced by the ATK bonus on the card.

Erratum 2007/10/08: The Order should read "Order: Once per turn, inflict a wound on Gurlda: Move forward one rank or perform a melee strike."
This melee strike uses the character's first strike as a base and is modified by items and/or any modifiers from other card effects.
The wound is a cost - if it is reduced or negated, the action is canceled. It would still be considered performed, however.
When in Fo'ttr'ak'ka's army, an unwounded Gurlda may use her Order while in the second rank and may target a character in an opposing first rank, as the wound is suffered before the strike is targeted (and thus will bring Fo'ttr'ak'ka's static text into effect).
The Chosen characters
Erratum 2012/05/05: The static text should read "Bal-Benoth must kill a Thrall you control in order to enter play."
Dungeons
The ability is granted after any initiative roll, and persists even if Baraxton's Graveyard is defeated or otherwise annuled. Thus, multiple uses of the Order may be granted, each one usable once per turn.
If either Warlord cannot fall forward any characters (Due to them all being in rank one, or otherwise) then the Black Iron Mine is removed from the game.
You only remove a charge if you succeed with the check.
If a character gains the Astral trait while this dungeon is in play, the other effects immediately stop affecting it.
Each time an order on a character in the discard pile is used, it is a new instance and is not affected by Once per turn/game restriction.
Players resolve the Nightfall effect in the order of the previous turn's Initiative.
If a player controls an Opal Gargoyle, they may choose whether to resolve the Dungeon's or the Gargoyle's 'after draw step' effect first.
If a player only has one card in hand when the Daybreak effect is triggered, they discard that card.
If a player only has one card remaining in their deck when the Nightfall effect is triggered, they draw that card.
Each player must reveal the character that they drew (per the rulebook on search effects).
The Daybreak effect is both draw and retrieval from the deck, but it is not an action.
The retrieved character cannot enter play into an illegal rank, unless card effects would allow otherwise.
If the Dungeon comes into play after a player has put his first character into play this turn, the Dungeon's effect will not trigger for that player this turn. In other words, it is first character of the turn, not the first character after the Dungeon is in effect.
Shuffle the deck afterward.
The effect ends if Longtusk's Arena leaves play.
On any of the attempts to defeat the dungeon, you may defeat the dungeon and remove it from game instead of removing a Charge. To win the game, the dungeon's CR must be reached and the last Charge removed.
When attempting to defeat a Dungeon, a player decides how many characters they will spend to defeat it, then adds up their Levels to determine if they were successful.
If opposing players want to add charges to this Dungeon, they each get one chance to do so (in Initiative order) after the acting player has spent his characters but before their Levels are compared to the Dungeon's CR.
If the CR is raised above the Levels spent to defeat it, then it is not defeated and play continues as normal.
The spending effect will happen after any Reacts to passing are played.
The method of readying is irrelevant. If Priam Ironsoul manages to ready a character with his React, during the ready phase, that counts as one of the 3 characters you may ready.
This is a static effect. It is checked as soon as possible when you have the chance. That is, if a character's level changes mid-strike, or mid-action, the penalty from The Shattered Spire also immediately changes.
Items
The acting character may move himself.
All movement occurs one character at a time, fixing illegal ranks as necessary.
Erratum 2007/10/08: The Order should read "Order: Discard a card and spend Alholland Bramble: Target each character in an adjacent rank. Each target must succeed with a Dexterity save (DC = this fighter's ATK) or suffer a wound."
The React doesn't occur until after the opposing action finishes.
Erratum 2007/10/08: It has the Unique trait.
When more than one card is being drawn (during the draw phase or similar - Reches' Labyrinth), the static effect will not cause every card to be revealed before it is drawn. Drawing multiple cards at once is a single instance of card draw.
The Spend Order is retrieval and card draw, if the card is of the correct type. But only the acting character is 'performing an action to draw/retrieve a card' - the other players are being forced to do so.
The bonuses to ATK, AC, and Skill are not only for defeating dungeons, whereas the +1 Level is.
"Their front rank" is always the first rank of the character's controller's army. You can use the Beads of Iman to get someone out of your army (If they have stealthed in).
This moves the target, but doesn't change orientation.
The character comes into play under your control in the appropriate rank.
If Book kills the opposing character, the action or strike is cancelled.
Marksmanship may further increase the strike's range.
The ATK Bonus checked for the Order is the character's first printed strike, modified by items and/or any modifiers from other card effects.
Pertains to performing any action, including equipping items.
Erratum 2007/09/14: Its static text should read "This character may not equip Armor."
The React's effect is to prevent the roll from receiving Any bonuses. That is, it does not merely reduce the current bonus to zero.
Focus cannot react to allow a readied Dwarf to attack, as the readying is during the Initiative phase.
The character must meet the class and Level requirements for equipping the retrieved Item.
The Order is retrieval from the deck.
Actions attach to this item are not affected by Salace or Forgotten.
Removing a wound from an opposing character is a cost, and as such, you cannot perform the action on Compassion without an opposing wounded character.
The spell cast from the discard pile is never returned to the discard pile. As part of the resolution of the action, it is removed from the game.
Necromancers can perform the react any number of times per turn.
The Order counts as retrieval from the discard pile.
If you manage to discard and reequip Dedication, you can use the Once per game ability again.
The React doesn't occur until after the opposing action finishes.
This replaces the base stats of the character. As such other bonuses or penalties to stats are applied afterward. This doesn't, however, affect the 'printed' stats of a character for the purposes of card effects. If more than one base stat modifier is on a character, use the most recent one.
"May not target unless there is no other target" trumps "must target if possible". Combining this card with Sir Searlus, for instance, level 1 characters may still only target him if there is no other legal option.
Actions attach to this item are not affected by Salace or Forgotten.

The amount of skill you gain from this item is always equal to what you drain. Salace changing the 1 into a 2 will cause you to gain 2 skill for each set item equipped.
Erratum 2007/08/16: May only be played in Open.
The Daybreak bonus is granted to all Illusionists, not just yours.
Since the ranged strikes spend instead of wound, card effects that do additional wounds will have no effect on these ranged strikes.
The Spend Order does not change which rank the character is in (even for card effects), but rather how far away the other character is considered to be. It is optional and may be ignored when selecting targets.
Skill checks are ANY checks that involve your skill bonus.
Characters "generate" checks from attached cards' static text, or their own static text, or from actions they perform.
The second react may be used on any skill check, so long as it's passed (Feats, magic saves, etc.). Shuffle your deck after using the React.

Actions attach to this item are not affected by Salace or Forgotten.
The +3 ATK from the Warhammer adds to these melee strikes, making them effectively +7s.
The acting player may choose not to discard a character.
If there is more than one character, the acting player gets to choose which is discarded.
Erratum 2007/10/08: The React should read "React: Once per turn, after your roll Initiative, stun a ready character in your army: Stun a non-Warlord character of equal or lower Level than your character."
The character must meet the class and Level requirements for equipping the retrieved Item.
The Order is retrieval from the deck.
Erratum 2007/08/16: May only be played in Open.
Erratum 2012/05/05: The static text should read "An Assassin may spend before equipping Helm to equip it as a Level 6 item."
Erratum: Should be level 9 with no ATK or AC modifications.
Actions attach to this item sre not affected by Salace or Forgotten.
Uses the character's current stats, not the base or printed ones.
This replaces the base stats of the character. As such other bonuses or penalties to stats are applied afterward. This doesn't, however, affect the 'printed' stats of a character for the purposes of card effects. If more than one base stat modifier is on a character, use the most recent one.
The penalty is set when the action's cost is paid.
Using this Order more than once per turn will stack.
The React doesn't occur until after the opposing action finishes.
Erratum: Its first React should read "React: After an item equipped by this character is discarded by another player's card effect, shuffle the item into your deck."
Erratum: Its second ability is an Order.
May remove cards in opposing players' and teammate's discard piles, but all three characters must come from the same discard pile.
If the item was not an Artificer Set item, you are forced to discard a card but it does not have to be the item.
The react is retrieval from the deck.

Since the melee strike stuns instead of wounds, card effects that do additional wounds will have no effect on this strike.
Erratum 2003/09/15: Its React should read "React: After an opponent draws or removes a card from his deck during the Order Phase using his own card effect, spend the Medallion to force the player to reveal the cards drawn or removed. You may choose to have that player keep those cards, or discard them and draw that many cards from the top of that player's deck."
Erratum 2004/06/28: Its Order should be "Once per turn".
The character must meet the class and Level requirements for equipping the retrieved Item.
The Order is retrieval from the deck.
The first React is only triggered by actions that this character performs that put a character into play. It is not triggered by the player using the standard Order under Raising Troops in the rulebook, nor by similar actions from other characters.
Summoned characters are characters that are not character cards.
Erratum 2007/08/21: The last sentence should read "Then, if successful, stun the target.
The target is not forced to make all of the strikes from their attack. They may forgo the rest of them any time after the first strike, as usual. Any strike that they take, however, is limited to targeting the acting rogue.
If there is another similar effect active (eg. Rally to the Cause), then the target may choose between the two 'must target' targets.
The ranged strike inflicts no wounds even if you apply an effect like Strain the Shot.
While performing the melee strike, it counts as a summoned character (not an item) and is considered to occupy the same space as the acting character (for purposes of adjacency).
Shuffle your deck after using the React.
There is no "if possible" clause. Level 1 characters simply can't target.
Erratum 2007/10/08: May only be played in Open.
The first Order's effect applies only to the spells cast by the wizard with the Ring equipped.
The second Order's effect applies to any spells cast by your characters.

Erratum 2007/10/08: May only be played in Open.
Put the characters into play one at a time, resolving any "after entering play" reacts before proceeding to the next character.
The characters cannot enter play into an illegal rank, unless card effects would allow otherwise.
Discard your hand after all characters have been played and the last character's "after entering play" reacts are resolved.
Erratum 2007/10/08: May only be played in Open.
The killed character can be any that you control. Fix any illegal ranks before performing the strike.
Playing characters normally refers to the order performed by the player under Raising troops in the rulebook. Any actions other than the one listed in Raising Troops may bring characters into play, such as Aroch Knights and Ring of Mending.
Erratum 2010/05/01: The Order should read "Order: Once per turn: Choose a cleric spell in your discard pile and succeed with a Scribe check (DC 22) to retrieve and attach the spell as if scribed, otherwise remove it from the game."
The Order is retrieval from the discard pile.
The character must be able to legally equip the retrieved item.
The spell is never returned to the discard pile. It is removed from the game as part of the resolution of the action.
If the wound kills the wizard, the spell cannot be played.
May not target the same character more than once for a single activation. That is, you must target three different characters, not one three times.
The targeted character gains the bold trait for the subclass as well.
Ignores ALL bonuses from Armor cards, including those from abilities and static text on Armor equipped to other characters.
You may equip 'over' it with another Armor. The item you equip may have another React to being targeted by a melee strike or action, which you may then perform (I.E. getting Magic Resistence in time to resist a spell).
When an effect ignores Critical Failures, a strike that would be a Critical Failure is instead a 1 that doesn't automatically fail. Bonuses and penalties are applied normally to the 1.
Since a 1 is Odd, an Astral character will be hit with melee strikes if 1 + any bonuses is equal to or greater than the target's AC.
A character in the Lady of Mercy's army will not Critically Succeed on melee strike rolls of 17, 18, and 19 when equipped with Silverwind. The 'cannot be changed' effect is stronger than her static effect.
The penalty is set when the action's cost is paid.
Erratum 2008/08/17: Has 10 AC, when it is a character.
The static text on Symbiote has no effect if the item is not equipped by playing it from your hand. Which also means that if the item moves from one character to another, it retains its trait.
Affects characters that either gain the subclass trait or enter play with the trait later in the turn.
Erratum 2007/10/08: The React should read "React: After killing target opposing Monster or Dragon: If this character is a Ranger, equip the target as an Armor item with an AC bonus and Level equal to its printed Level, ignoring class and Level requirements."
(The 4E MRP supersedes this ruling)
Erratum 2007/10/08: It has the Unique trait.
The first Order is retrieval and draw from the deck.
The second Order allows each action on each Faith Set item, even ones equipped later in the turn, to be used an additional time this turn.
Erratum 2012/05/05: The Order should read "Order: Once per turn, discard a card: Perform a +0 ranged strike (+4 if this character is in the front rank). Ready Bracers. This is an Air action and a spell."
Erratum 2007/08/16: The second paragraph should read "After this character casts a spell or fails a Scribe check: Remove that cast or Scribed spell from the game."
If the Tome is equipped by another character in play (using Sleight of Hand or Rraven'a, for instance), it retains the original feat chosen and triggers the react anew.
Does not cause currently equipped Armor to be destroyed, only preventing new Armor from being equipped.
Erratum 2010/05/01: Effect restricted to lower Level adjacent characters.
Erratum 2006/10/20: The first Order should read "Order: Spend Volda's Mantle: Target character within three ranks must succeed with a magic save (DC 10 + this cleric's skill) or be stunned."
Erratum 2010/05/01: Effect restricted to lower Level adjacent characters.
