No account. No sign-in. No personal information is collected by Guardian Jobs from you as an app user.
Saved jobs, search history, recently viewed listings, job alerts, and app preferences are stored locally on your device. This page explains exactly what the app does and does not do with your data.
1. Our Commitment to Privacy
Guardian Jobs is built to help you search, discover, and save job opportunities with confidence. We designed this app so you can browse listings, apply through official employer pages, and bookmark roles you care about — without creating an account, without signing in, and without sharing your personal contact details with us. Protecting your privacy is a core principle of this product.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect, store, or transmit any of the following from you as an app user:
Your name
Your phone number
Your email address
Your home or mailing address
Your date of birth
Government identifiers (SSN, ID numbers, etc.)
Photos, contacts, or camera data
Precise GPS location
No sign-up, login, OTP verification, email verification, social login, or registration is ever required to use the app.
3. Information Stored On Your Device
To power your job search experience, Guardian Jobs stores the following locally on your device only (using DataStore preferences):
Saved and bookmarked job listings
Recent search queries
Recently viewed jobs
Job alert preferences you create
App settings (such as theme and notification preferences)
This information is not uploaded to our servers and is not linked to your identity as an app user. Data you manage in the app remains on your device — we do not receive it as personal user profile data.
4. Local, On-Device Processing
Guardian Jobs is designed for local processing wherever possible. Core features — including saved jobs, recent searches, recently viewed listings, filters, job alerts, and settings — run on your device using locally stored data.
Job listings are loaded from sample data bundled with the app and processed on your device. Your saved jobs and search preferences are not sent to our servers for storage or processing. You can browse saved and cached job listings without an internet connection after they have been loaded.
An internet connection is needed when you choose to open external application links in your browser via "Apply Now".
5. Data Display and Sharing
Job listings shown in the app are provided from local sample data included with the application for demonstration purposes. Saved jobs and your browsing history within the app are read from your device's local storage.
If you share a job using your device's standard share options, that sharing is handled by your device and the app you choose — we do not receive copies of shared content unless you explicitly send it to us.
When you tap "Apply Now", you are redirected to an employer's or job board's website in your default browser. You are responsible for any information you submit on those external sites.
6. Advertising
Guardian Jobs displays advertisements through Google AdMob to help keep the app free to use. Ad formats may include banner ads shown above the bottom navigation bar and full-screen interstitial ads shown when you navigate between main sections.
Google and its advertising partners may collect and use information such as your device's advertising ID, approximate location (derived from IP address), app interactions with ads, and technical device data to deliver, measure, and improve ads. This data is handled according to Google's policies, not stored by us as a personal user profile.
You can limit ad personalization on your device through:

7. Third-Party Services
Guardian Jobs uses Google AdMob to serve advertisements. Job listings are loaded from sample data bundled with the app. We do not send your saved jobs, search history, or app preferences to ad providers for profile building.
When you tap "Apply Now" or open any external link, you leave Guardian Jobs and interact with third-party websites. Those sites may log standard technical requests (such as IP address) according to their own policies.

8. Cookies and Tracking
The app itself does not use browser cookies. We do not operate our own analytics or cross-app tracking services within Guardian Jobs.
Google AdMob may use identifiers permitted by your device and Android settings to measure ad performance. We do not build personal profiles about you based on your in-app activity beyond what is required for ad delivery through AdMob. Third-party job board websites you visit through "Apply Now" may use their own cookies and tracking — please review their privacy policies separately.
9. Network and Permissions
The app requests only the permissions it needs to function:
Internet access — required when you open external application links in your browser
Notifications (optional) — used only for local job alerts you create in the app, if you enable them
We do not request access to contacts, camera, calendar, SMS, microphone, biometric authentication, or precise location. There is no sign-in or account permission prompt when you open the app.
Your locally saved jobs and search data remain on your device during normal app use.
10. Data Security
Because we do not collect personal information or account credentials from you as an app user, there is no personal login profile that can be compromised on our servers. Your saved jobs, search history, recently viewed listings, job alerts, and preferences remain on your device unless you explicitly share content outside the app.
App preferences are stored using DataStore on your device. You can clear all locally stored data at any time through your device settings.
11. Children's Privacy
This app is intended for job seekers looking for employment opportunities. It is designed as a job search utility and does not require personal information from children or adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.
12. Your Choices and Rights
Because we do not collect identifying information about you as an app user, there is no personal account or profile to delete on our side. You can fully reset your app data at any time by uninstalling the app or clearing app storage:
Settings → Apps → Guardian Jobs → Storage → Clear storage
Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored saved jobs, search history, recently viewed listings, job alerts, and app preferences from the app's private storage area.
13. Changes to This Policy
If this policy is updated, the revised version will be available within the app on this screen. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
