I am a PhD candidate in sociology at Boston College. My dissertation traces China's energy transition from 2003 to 2022. Through examining how both central and subnational states dealt with "overcapacity" crises in the solar industry and imposed controls on total energy consumption, the dissertation seeks to reconstruct theories of symbolic power and the state.Â
My master's project was on the livelihood consequences and intra-village politics of land expropriation in rural China. I have also worked as a research assistant analyzing survey data on global four-day workweek trials.
