The Gruppen und topologische Gruppen is series of 2-days international conferences taking place every semester since 1972 in various locations around Europe.

The topic of interest is group theory in a wide sense, including abstract algebra, discrete mathematics, module theory and the theories of Lie, algebraic and topological groups.

The Summer 2026 edition will take place from Friday, June 19th to Saturday, June 20th in Dresden, Germany.

There is some limited funding for speakers. If  you are interested on giving a talk please submitt a tenptative title and abstract during registration.

 The conference is taking place in TU Dresden University in the Willersbau building rooms WIL/A120/H (friday morning) and WIL/A317/H. The building can be accessed from Zellescher Weg 12-14 (small door to the right while facing stairs). The rooms are both in the A wing (first one after entering) and are placed in the first and third floor respectively. Registration will take place in WIL/A120/H.

The building can be reached from the main train station either by foot (20 minutes) or by the buses 424 (direction Deutschenbora Hirschfelder Straße, 1 stop) , 66 (direction Altkaitz, 2 stops) or 360 (direction Kurort Kipsdorf Bahnhof, 2 stops). Alternatively it can be reached from Neustadt by taking the straßenbahns number 8 (direction Südvorstadt, 2 stops) or 3 (direction Coschütz, 2 stops). Basically any bus or tram going stopping in in the main train station and going in the right direction will reach the university in at most 2 stops.
