OLD MALACCA
Malaysia is truly a country of treasures. This excursion to Malacca (150km south of Kuala Lumpur) will immerse your guests in rich Malaysian culture and history. Once colonised in succession by the Dutch, Portugese and the British 600 years ago, the town square with its terracotta red Dutch colonial buildings is the best place to begin a historical tour.
Christchurch, the oldest Protestant church in Malaysia and the Clock Tower are two of the many heritage buildings in the square. Dominating the Dutch Square is the impressive Stadhuys that used to be the home to the Dutch Governor and now Malacca’s Historical Museum. Continuing our journey on foot to the street of Harmony, your guests will find three places of worship harmoniously lined up next to each other - a Chinese temple, an Indian temple and a Muslim mosque. Follow Jalan Kota, at the foot of St. Paul’s Hill and visit Porta de Santiago where the remaining ruins of the great Portuguese fort, A Famosa lie. A walk up the hill and the famous St.Paul’s Church ruins can be seen.

reflect their glorious past.

THE PERANAKAN HERITAGE
“Peranakan” refers to the descendants of Straits-born Chinese (those born in Penang, Malacca or Singapore - males known as Baba and female known as Nyonya). This elite group of people introduced a rich, complex, yet little understood Straits subcul- ture, which has played a prominent role in Penang’s unique cul- tural development. The Peranakan cuisine or better known as Nyonya food is a good example of how two different cultures can merge so perfectly to create an exquisite blend evident in the kitchen as well as in other aspects of life. Tracing its presence back to the 17th century with your guests is a true-blue Peranakan Nyonya and a well-known culinary expert. They will also learn more about this resurgent Nyonya cuisine when she demonstrates her culinary skills in a remarkably quaint ambience. A perfect setting to learn and experience the complex method of Nyonya cuisine preparation. To name a few enticing dishes for lunch, there are jiu hu char (stir fried cuttlefish with shredded vegetables), pai tee (spicy seafood appetisers served in crispy rice- noodle pastries shaped like top hats), and a delicious dessert of bubur kacang (sweet bean soup with coconut milk).
