Projects I have participated in:
DEDALUS (Jun. 2025 - now) : The main objective of this research project is to utilize quantum advantage in order to optimize a given query. We present the stages of query compilation from a top-to-bottom perspective. Throughout this process, all available compute units may be utilized, including the classical CPU, QPU, and GPU. (SUB1.1 Clusters of Research Excellence - CREs, TA 5180519) -project webpage
TALE (Apr. 2025 - Jul. 2025): The main objective of this work is to design a technological stack, based on solid theoretical underpinning, around the property graph data model that can enable graph processing and analytics at scale. (H.F.R.I. Project Number: 16819) -project webpage
TwinODIS (Jan. 2025 - Mar. 2025): The project aims to revolutionise data-driven large-scale decision optimisation using AI technology and operational research analytical methods. HORIZON-WIDERA-2023-ACCESS-02-01 -project webpage
GreenInCities (Apr. 2024 - Dec. 2024): This project seeks to develop methodologies and tools for collaborative climate mitigation and adaptation in urban planning, specifically targeting deprived areas. Addressing challenges includes improving societal readiness and awareness, expanding beyond traditional greening interventions, and leveraging advanced technologies for effective co-creation and urban regeneration. European Commission (EU funding project), HORIZON-MISS-2023-CLIMACITIES-01 -project webpage
STREAMSTORE (May - Dec. 2022, Jul - Dec. 2023): This research project aims to fully support highly elastic, scalable, and fault-tolerant stateful stream-processing systems, through the evolution of the elasticity, predictability, and availability of scalable data store technology beyond the state of the art. STREAMSTORE is supported by the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (HFRI) through a faculty grant (Grant ID: HFRI-FM17-1998). -project webpage
SmartCityBus (Jan. - Jun. 2023): The aim of this research project is the development and exploitation of a mass transport management platform in order to dynamically and efficiently determine the bus routes and the selection of the bus fleet for better serving of the passengers, as well as the optimal use of available resources. (MIS code: 5069129) Greek NSRF 2014-2020, Operational Program ”Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship & Innovation” (EPAnEK). -project webpage
ProxiTour (Feb. 2021 - Jan. 2022): This project aims to develop a smart IoT-driven personalized touring platform for indoor and outdoor cultural spaces. Greek NSRF 2014-2020, Operational Program ”Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship & Innovation” (EPAnEK) - project webpage. The poster of this project can be downloaded from here.
DISTOP2D (2018 - 2019): The aim of this project was to study quantum matter and many-body interactions in the presence of disorder by primarily creating and using matrix diagonalization codes for tight-binding lattice Hamiltonians. We mostly used the ARIS thin nodes island, based on the IBM NeXtScale platform and Intel Xeon E5-2680v2 processors which has 426 computing nodes and offers a total of 8,520 cores (CPU cores). A part of the results from this project is included in my doctorate work. 5th “Call for Proposals for Production Projects” for access to ARIS national high performance computing system, Greek Research and Technology Network (GRNET)
