Google Season of Docs started in 2019 and is a program that provides support for open source projects to improve their documentation and gives professional technical writers an opportunity to gain experience in open source.
Organizations submit a project proposal and proposed budget to Season of Docs
Accepted projects receive $5-15k USD. The amount the org receives is based on the needs of the documentation project
Tech writers reach out to the organizations they’re interested in. Tech writers are selected by the organizations
Organizations identify and track the metrics that matter for their documentation project. Case studies are published at the program’s end
