Local Map

Rooms for participants are reserved at the Sheraton, on the corner of 36th and Chestnut on the map. Talks will take place in David Rittenhouse Lab, on 33rd and Walnut, which is just under a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Please enter David Rittenhouse Lab from the 33rd St entrance.

Also marked on the map are some convenience stores, two bookstores, and nearby coffee shops. To avoid clutter on the map, food is not marked.

There is a food court between Starbucks and CVS called Franklin's Table, as well as a row of restaurants behind it along Sansom street. There is another row of restaurants along Chestnut street between 32nd and 33rd.

There is also an abundance of food trucks, many of which are located along Market street and along 33rd street. Most trucks are cash only.

Transportation

Public transportation in Philadelphai is through SEPTA, whose website can be found here. Fare information can be found here. There is also a regional rail that goes between the airport and Center City in Philadelphia. Uber and Lyft are also common ways of getting around.

That being said, Philadelphia is considered to be fairly walkable, so many things are close enough to reach by foot as well.

If you are driving to the conference, the Sheraton has paid parking, which we may be able to reimburse. There is also free street parking in the residential areas around the two university campuses, but please do be careful to check what the signs on a street say about parking.

Sightseeing

Philadelphia is over 300 years old, currently the sixth most populous US city, and the home of a great deal of American history. It is the home of the Liberty Bell as well as Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence and Constitution were signed. There are a number of excellent museums in Philadelphia as well, and of particular note is the Philadelphia Musuem of Art, whose steps were featured in the Rocky films. There are too many other historical and modern attractions to list all of them, but this city certainly has something to offer to anyone.
