Volunteer-run camp has deep roots in our community, dating all the way back to the 1980s. For decades, it was a summer staple—running strong every year until 2019. Like so many things, the COVID-19 pandemic put our plans on pause. After a five-year break, we were beyond excited to bring this beloved tradition back in 2024!
What makes this camp extra special? It’s powered entirely by volunteers. Every activity, craft, game, and song happens because of dedicated adults who give their time outside of work, family, and everyday life to make it all possible for our campers.
But we can’t do it alone. Parent support is a huge part of what keeps camp running smoothly. Even if you can’t take a full week off, there are plenty of ways to pitch in. Check out our Volunteer page to see how you can get involved—every bit helps!
Campers are divided into 7 units that they will stay with for the entire week. We keep them as close to the same grade level as possible so that each unit's activities are age-appropriate. Each unit will have 2 adults and at least 1 teen volunteer to help lead activities and keep your campers happy!
Each camper will receive a t-shirt that they will decorate themselves, a bandana, and a fun patch. Campers and volunteers are expected to bring a bag lunch with them each day.
Activities range from crafts, to nature exploration, to traditional Girl Scout songs and skits. Girl Scouts is girl-led, so each unit will follow the lead of the girls for the day's activities.
Day camp runs from 8:30 am-3:00 pm daily, Monday-Wednesday. Thursday is an overnight, where each unit will be cooking their lunch over the campfire as a group. Friday morning campers will need to be picked up at 11 am.
Aftercare is available for an additional fee.

I want to volunteer, but I have another child who can't come. What are my options?
We have a tagalong unit available for girls younger than camp aged or boys up to 12. They must be potty trained. If that option doesn't work for you, there are other ways to volunteer on our Volunteer page and donations via our wishlist are always appreciated!
How do I register?
Visit the registration page on this website. Once you've submitted your registration (or application for teen staff) you will receive an email for payment. Camper space will be reserved once we have a completed registration, health form and payment. When a unit is full, we will begin a waiting list in case of cancellations.
Teen staff applications will be accepted through March 15, 2026. We will then review and make decisions about accepted staff.
Can my camper be paired with a friend?
We will make an effort to accommodate a buddy request for girls of a similar age, but cannot guarantee them. Please write in the buddy's name when filling out registration. (Not applicable to teen volunteers)
My camper isn't a Girl Scout; may she still attend camp?
Not a Girl Scout? Not a problem! All girls are welcome at camp. If your daughter is not a registered Girl Scout, you may register here. This is required by our insurance.
My camper can no longer attend camp. What is your refund policy?
Cancellations made by June 1 will receive a full refund if we are able to fill your camper's space with another camper.
A non-refundable amount of $30 will be kept if we are not able to fill your camper's space with someone from the waitlist.
Cancellations made after June 1 will be at discretion of Camp Directors and Treasurer.
Is Girl Scout Adventure Day Camp affiliated with Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay and GSUSA?
Yes, however, we are not a Council-run camp. We operate as a State of Delaware Licensed Camp. All of our staff, including our directors, are volunteers. Nobody is paid for their work, and many of us put our own money into our programs. A portion of the registration fees go to Council to pay for use of the campground.
Will there be bugs at camp?
Likely, yes. Please use bug wipes or cream to prevent mosquito bites. Any camper with a bee allergy should be prepared with an epi pen if prescribed.
What if my camper has special needs?
We are an inclusive camp and strive to give every child a fun experience. That said, wheelchair accessibility is limited to the Troop House and STEM lodge, which is meant for younger girls. We will make every effort to come up with a solution for any girl who wants to come to camp. If you have concerns about your camper's needs, please reach out directly to gscbvolunteercamp@gmail.com
Is financial assistance available?
Yes! We want all girls to be able to experience camp. Please contact gscbvolunteercamp@gmail.com
What happens if one week is canceled?
If we have to cancel a week due to low registration, we will make every effort to move campers to the next week if they are available. If your camper isn't available, you will receive a full refund. If you are a full week volunteer able to switch weeks, your campers will be awarded a spot.
Why can't my camper bring her phone, tablet, smartwatch or other electronics to camp?
Aside from the chance of electronics being lost or damaged, camp is a time for girls to experience new things, be part of nature, and meet new friends. Girls should come to the camp with the expectation that they will have fun without the need for electronics. There is no need for them to have a cell phone, tablet, smart watch, etc. since there are adults nearby for emergencies. Every parent will receive a phone list to call in case of emergencies.
What are camp staff hours?
Both adult and teen staff hours are Mon-Wed 8:15am-4:00pm; Thursday is an overnight 8:15am-Friday 12 noon.
Where will we be sleeping Thursday night?
The youngest campers (1-2) will sleep indoors at either the Troop House or STEM lodge. Campers finishing Grade 3 or above will be in outdoor units; Adirondacks or Canvas Tents.
