Retention Strategies:
●One of the biggest factors of to the non-retention of GSA members is disorganization.
●The best GSAs have a week or monthly set calendar posted in the school calendar and/or website so students know when to attend.
●Create lesson plans for your GSA. Decide what topics you will discuss and what activities you will conduct for each meeting. If you have a high school GSA, have a meeting with the officers at the beginning of each month to set the agendas.
●Use special events to organize your agenda. Examples: October 11—National Coming Out Day; May 22—Harvey Milk Day.
GLSEN has a topics calendar that you can use here.
