After seeing an episode of War on Waste. I was inspired to come up with a use for the wasted material that seemed too hard to make anything else from.
After some brainstorming we came up with the idea to mould clothing into plant pots that could be put in the ground along with the plant and degrade in time as the plant grew.
This allows for a lot less disturbance to the plants as they can be moved to larger pots by simply putting the entire plant and pot into a bigger one.
We have looked at, and are yet to test, breaking the fibres of the clothes down and using the pulped material to make the pots out of. We don't have access to a machine that can pulp clothing at the moment.
We are still working of the on our experiments. Hopefully we'll get some data soon.
We're working on trying one in the ground to see how the roots progress and how the material fairs in the soil.
Just have to find an appropriate place to plant and be able to dig up to check on the root system.
