Privacy Policy for Grow-N-Go

Grow-N-Go is a health and fitness app designed for students in grades 6–12. It encourages healthy habits, like moving more and staying active, by connecting to your Health app and using your location to guide you toward healthy real-world spots. This page explains what information we collect, why, and how it's handled. We've tried to write it in plain language instead of confusing legal-speak.
**Because Grow-N-Go is used by kids, including kids under 13, we take extra care with privacy — see the "Notice for Parents" section below.**
What We Collect
**Health & Fitness**
- Steps, heart rate, and other fitness data synced from Apple Health or Google Health
**Location**
- Precise location, used to guide users toward healthy real-world locations like parks, schools, and gyms
- Coarse (general) location, used as a fallback when precise location isn't available
**Account & Identifiers**
- A username-based account (no email required) tied to a user ID, used to save your progress
Why We Collect It
- **Steps/heart rate/health data:** to track fitness progress and reward movement
- **Location:** to guide users toward parks, gyms, and other healthy real-world locations
- **User ID/account:** to save your progress and let you log back in
We do **not** collect your name, email address, or photos. We do **not** use this data for third-party advertising, and we do not sell it to data brokers.
Do We Use Any Outside Services?
We use Firebase (a service by Google) solely to handle account login with your username. Firebase does not receive your health, fitness, or location data — it's used only for authentication.
Is Your Data Linked to You?
Yes. Since the app uses accounts, the data we collect (steps, heart rate, location) is tied to your user ID so we can save and show it back to you correctly. We don't collect this data anonymously.
Do We Track You?
"Tracking" has a specific meaning under Apple's rules; it means linking your data with other companies' apps or websites for advertising purposes, or sharing it with data brokers.
We do not share your user ID or personal data with outside advertisers or data brokers for cross-app tracking.
Do We Share Your Data?
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your health, fitness, or location data with any outside company except as described above (Firebase, for login only).
Your Choices
You can:
- Turn off location or health permissions anytime in your device settings
- Contact us to ask what data we have about you or to request it be deleted
Notice for Parents (Children's Privacy)
Grow-N-Go is built for students in grades 6–12, which means some of our users are under the age of 13. Because of this, we follow the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
For users under 13:
- We collect only the information needed for the app's core features (steps, heart rate, and location)
- We do not collect names, email addresses, or photos
- We do not use their data for third-party advertising or behavioral ad targeting
- Parents can contact us at any time to review what information we have about their child, request it be deleted, or refuse to allow further collection
**Parents:** if you believe your child has provided us with personal information and you'd like it reviewed or removed, contact us using the info below and we'll take care of it promptly.
