Growing Food Security

Results by the Numbers

Since our first growing season in 2020, Growing Food Security has grown and donated over 30,000 pounds of fresh, healthy produce to the Rams Against Hunger food pantry. We now harvest an average of 10,000 pounds per year across more than 20 different fruit and vegetable crops. Our plantings include over 60 unique cultivars, allowing us to deliver a wide variety of nutritious, seasonal produce throughout the growing season.

Learning Outcomes

Volunteers in the Growing Food Security project gain hands-on experience in growing and harvesting food, from planting seedlings to managing pests and irrigation. They develop a deeper understanding of food systems, food insecurity, and how agriculture can be a tool for social good. Beyond the field, volunteers build collaboration, leadership, and problem-solving skills by working in a dynamic, community-driven environment.
