Drop-off at church is on MONDAY, June 29th beginning at 12:00PM, with departure at 1:OOPM.
When students arrive they will enter the Chapel (former Worship Center) doors, sign in, be reminded of bus/room assignments, complete lice check and parents can ask any final questions, drop off medications, etc. Once everyone is checked in, we’ll have a meeting/rally in the Worship Center.
All students and adults should eat before they arrive, or bring lunch with you to The Grove. The total travel time is a little over an hour. The buses will make NO stops between HG and camp.
We get back FRIDAY around 11:00AM. We’ll update arrival times that morning via Facebook, and if we’re going to be significantly later we will have students call their parents on the road. There will be no Grove Youth the Wednesday we are at camp.
Parents will be asked to complete a medication form outlining any information we might need regarding your student’s medication needs. This form will be shared with your student’s room leader to ensure students needs are met throughout the week. This form is linked here. We must have a completed hard copy of this form at departure.
Students are encouraged to NOT bring their phones to retreat. They will have a better, more distraction-free week without their phone attached to them. However, if you decide to send your student with a phone, remember the following:
Their phone is THEIR responsibility. Neither Crossings nor Hickory Grove is responsible if it is lost, broken, or stolen at camp. We cannot and will not interrupt the camp schedule to search for a missing phone!!
Phones MUST remain in rooms – they may not be taken to any organized camp activities (having them out during free time for pictures is fine). This is a camp policy, and phones will be confiscated if outside of rooms.
If a phone becomes a distraction or an issue for any reason at camp, it will be confiscated and returned to the student on the bus ride home.
There is no wi-fi for students at Crossings, and the data-reception is spotty.
Students who do not bring cell phones will be able to use a leader’s phone during any free time to call home and check in with their parents.
Don’t plan on using the Bible app on a phone – students should bring a hard copy!
The following dress code guidelines are set by Crossings:
We ask that all students and adults dress modestly.
For Females:
Shorts need to be longer than fingertips when
arm is extended down the side of the leg.
No spaghetti strap tank tops or any tops where
undergarments can be seen.
No crop tops.
Swimsuits must be one-piece with shorts/swim
shorts worn over swimsuit at all times, even
in the water. If you do not have a one-piece
swimsuit, a dark t-shirt and shorts must be worn
over a tankini swimsuit at all times.
Shirts must be worn over swimsuits at all times
when walking to and from the lake/pool.
For Males:
Shorts need to be longer than fingertips when
arm is extended down the side of the leg.
No shirts with sides cut out.
Shirts must be worn at all times on campus,
even when walking to and from the lake/pool.
This year we will have a ‘Lice Check’ during our drop off time. This ensures that your students do not have to worry about getting lice or face any potential embarrassment if we later discover that they have lice at camp. Parents/guardians, please do your best to handle it before hand. Unfortunately anyone who is found to have lice before we leave will not be able to attend to ensure that other students and leaders are not at risk of getting lice as well.
We don’t expect there to be any significant behavior issues, but a few things we want to reinforce: students must listen to adult leaders and follow their direction, be in and STAY IN their rooms after curfew, and we have a “no pranks” policy (they can go too far too easily). If a significant behavior issue arises, we will ask parents to come and pick up their students at their own expense.
VAPING – We have a zero-tolerance policy for vaping/vape devices at camp. PLEASE double check your students’ bags/belongings if you believe this could be an issue!
This year’s theme night is “The Wild West.” Students may (but are not required to) bring costume/items to match the theme. Costumes and related items must be within dress code.
Upon departure, a list of room leader contact information will be provided in the event you would like to reach your student via their room leader.
