My Eid al-Fitr Celebration Last Year

Orientation

Eid al-Fitr is always a special moment for me and my family. Last year, I experienced one of the most joyful Eid celebrations. The atmosphere was filled with happiness, togetherness, and delicious food.

Series of Events

The night before Eid, my family and I joined the takbiran parade around our neighborhood. People were walking together while chanting takbir and beating traditional drums. The sound of takbir echoed everywhere, and the streets were beautifully decorated with colorful lights.

On the morning of Eid, we woke up early, took a bath, and wore our best clothes. I wore a new white shirt, while my parents and siblings also wore new outfits. Then, we went to the mosque for the Eid prayer. The mosque was so crowded, and we had to sit outside because there was no space left inside.

After the prayer, we went back home and prepared to welcome relatives and neighbors. One by one, people came to our house. We greeted each other, shook hands, and asked for forgiveness. It was a very heartwarming tradition. I also visited some of my relatives’ houses, including my grandparents. At each house, I enjoyed various delicious foods such as ketupat, opor chicken, rendang, and sambal goreng.

In the afternoon, my cousins and I played with fireworks in the yard. The sky was filled with colorful lights, and we laughed so much together. At night, I felt really tired, but my heart was full of happiness.

Reorientation

That Eid celebration was unforgettable. It reminded me of the importance of family, forgiveness, and gratitude. I felt very blessed to be surrounded by people I love, and I will always treasure those memories.
