Privacy Policy for Groundd
Effective date: May 23, 2026
App name: Groundd
Package name: com.groundd.keyboard
Developer: Zin Khant
Contact: zinkaistudios@gmail.com
This Privacy Policy describes how Groundd (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the Groundd Android application and the Groundd keyboard (together, the “App”). It is written for users and for publication on Google Play, where a privacy policy link is required for apps that access sensitive data—including input method (keyboard) apps, which can process text you type in other applications.
If you do not agree with this policy, please do not install or use the App.
Summary
Groundd is a custom Android keyboard with wellness tools (breathing, focus drills, drawing, fidgets), typing features (autocorrect, suggestions), and optional one-time Premium purchase via Google Play.
We do not operate our own servers to collect what you type. Typing-related processing for suggestions and autocorrect happens on your device.
We do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs in the App (no ad networks, no Firebase Analytics, etc.).
We do not sell your personal information.
1. Information the App Can Access
Because Groundd is a keyboard, it can access data needed to provide keyboard functionality. The following describes what the App may process or store.
1.1 Text you type (keyboard input)
When you use Groundd as your input method in any app (messages, email, browsers, etc.), the keyboard:
Reads text and cursor position from the active text field so it can show suggestions, autocorrect, and insert characters you press.
Sends keystrokes and edits to that field through Android’s standard input method APIs.
This text is processed on your device to power typing features. We do not transmit the contents of your messages or documents to our own backend.
1.2 On-device typing personalization
To improve autocorrect and suggestions over time, the App may store limited, derived typing data locally on your device, including:
Frequencies of words you complete while typing (not full message logs).
Common word pairs and short phrase patterns used for next-word suggestions.
Typo-to-correction pairs you accept or reject when using autocorrect.
This data is saved in a file named typing_personalization.json in the App’s private storage. It is not uploaded to us by the App.
1.3 Clipboard
When the keyboard is active, the App may:
Read the system clipboard (primary clip) so you can paste via the keyboard’s clipboard picker.
Keep a short in-memory list (up to eight recent clips) while the keyboard process is running, to make paste easier.
Clipboard history in the keyboard UI is not written to disk by Groundd. Clearing the App from memory or force-stopping it clears that in-memory list. Other apps on your device may still store clipboard data according to their own policies.
1.4 App settings and preferences
We store your choices locally using Android DataStore, for example:
Theme, haptics, key sounds, and visual effects.
Wellness session durations (breathing, signal hunt).
Autocorrect on/off and strength.
Setup progress, trial timing, and whether Premium is unlocked on this device.
Whether certain in-app prompts or notifications were already shown.
1.5 Purchases
Premium is sold as a one-time in-app product (groundd_premium) through Google Play Billing. Purchase validation and payment are handled by Google; we receive only what Google provides to confirm entitlement (e.g., that a purchase exists for your Google account). We store a local flag that Premium is active on the device. We do not receive your full payment card details.
1.6 Notifications (optional)
If you allow the Notifications permission (Android 13+), the App may show local reminders such as:
That your free Premium trial is ending soon.
A request to rate the App on Google Play.
These notifications are scheduled on your device (via Android WorkManager). They are not used to send us the content of your typing.
1.7 Device permissions
Permission
Why it is used
VIBRATE
Haptic feedback for keys, wellness exercises, and fidgets.
INTERNET
Google Play Billing, Google Play in-app review flow, and opening the Play Store listing—not for uploading your typed text to us.
POST_NOTIFICATIONS
Optional trial and rating reminders (only if you grant permission).
The App does not request location, contacts, SMS, call log, camera, microphone, or storage access for typing data.
1.8 Wellness features
Features such as box breathing, signal hunt, zen drawing, and fidget interactions run on device. Drawings on the zen canvas and session state are used for the feature UI and are not sent to our servers.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information described above only to:
Provide keyboard input, suggestions, and autocorrect.
Remember your settings and personalization on your device.
Operate free and Premium features and trial timing.
Process purchases and restore Premium through Google Play.
Show optional local notifications you may allow.
Improve stability and comply with law.
We do not use your typed content for advertising profiling or to sell data to data brokers.
3. Where Data Is Stored
On your device: Settings (DataStore), typing personalization file, and Premium status flag.
In memory only (while running): Current field text mirror for typing, suggestion state, and short clipboard history for the picker.
Not on our servers: The App, as shipped, does not sync your typing or personalization to a developer-operated cloud service.
Android backup and device-to-device transfer for App data are disabled in our configuration so private files (including personalization) are not copied to Google backup by default.
4. Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these situations:
Third party
What is shared
Purpose
Google Play / Google Play Billing
Purchase and account entitlement data as defined by Google
Process and restore Premium purchases
Google Play In-App Review
Minimal device/app context Google uses for the review API
Optional in-app rating prompt
Google Play Store

Law enforcement / legal
Only if required by valid legal process
Compliance with applicable law
Each third party’s use of data is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy and relevant Play terms.
We do not embed third-party advertising SDKs in the App.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
Typing personalization and settings remain on your device until you clear App storage or uninstall Groundd.
In-memory keyboard and clipboard picker data are cleared when the keyboard process ends.
Google Play may retain purchase records according to Google’s policies even after you uninstall the App.
To delete local App data:
Settings → Apps → Groundd → Storage → Clear storage (wording may vary by device), or uninstall the App.
Uninstalling removes App-private files including typing_personalization.json and DataStore preferences from your device.
6. Security
We design Groundd to process sensitive keyboard data locally. We use Android’s app sandbox, do not expose a developer backend for typed content in the current App, and disable cloud backup of App data in our manifest configuration. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure; you should also protect your device with a screen lock and keep Android updated.
7. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing of personal information.
Permissions: You can deny notification permission; the App still works as a keyboard.
Keyboard access: You can switch to another keyboard or disable Groundd in system Languages & input / Keyboard settings at any time.
Premium: Manage purchases in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions.
Personalization: Clear App storage or uninstall to remove on-device learning data.
To exercise privacy rights or ask questions, contact us at zinkaistudios@gmail.com. We will respond as required by applicable law (e.g., GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA where applicable).
8. Children’s Privacy
Groundd is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will take steps to delete it where required.
9. International Users
If you use the App outside the country where the developer is located, your information may be processed on your device locally and, when you use Google Play services, by Google in accordance with its policies.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version at the same URL and update the Effective date above. For material changes, we may also notify you in the App or on the Play Store listing where appropriate.
