PTO stands for Parent-Teacher Organization, and it consists of current parents/guardians and teachers/administrators working together to enhance students in becoming inquiring, engaged, and compassionate members of their communities. We strive to improve communication between the home and the school, so that as a team we can collectively inspire our Falcons to SOAR.
We are a 501c(3) non-profit organization that generates funds with partners in our community.
Our primary objective as a PTO is to provide our school with funds, programs, resources, and services that will enrich and maximize the experience of Groton Middle School students.
The PTO consists of Officers, Members, and Volunteers. So, reach out to support at whatever level that fits your ability. The PTO is most successful in reaching its goals when it has support at all levels. Be on the lookout for a notification for a scheduled meeting or a volunteering opportunity. Each year we call for volunteers for a few of our fundraising events.
Past volunteer opportunities included staffing concession stands, assisting at events (such as Triva Nights or Staff-to-Student Basketball Tournament), and helping distribute fundraising products (such as Pies or Cookie Dough packages). And let's not forget attending Dine-Ins. Side Note: Dine-Ins (Dine-to-Donate) are local restaurant fundraisers where you show a flyer, order and eat, then the restaurant donates a percent of what you spent to the PTO.
Each year, prior to the start of a new school year, we establish funding goals based upon what student activities the PTO wants to support. Activities like- Youth Athletic Awards, Extracurricular Clubs, Summer Reading Program, End of Year Enrichment, a Fitch Scholarship (for a GMS graduate), and some staff appreciation.
Then we plan fundraising events, which you can see on the Fundraising & Rewards tab. Please consider supporting one or more of those events.
When families, schools and communities work together, students thrive.
A special "Thank You" to the local business's that support the Groton Middle School PTO!
