If you want a secure, in-ear seal with extended battery life for focused study sessions, choose Groovz True; if you need to stay aware of your surroundings while studying in a shared space, choose POHPYU Open Ear Earbuds.
• Groovz True: Delivers deep immersion with active noise cancellation and 27 hours of total playtime, but requires an in-ear fit that some find isolating during long study blocks.
• POHPYU Open Ear Earbuds: Offers a zero-pressure open design that keeps ambient sounds audible for safety and situational awareness, though it lacks the sound isolation needed for noisy environments.
• The Study Verdict: Pick Groovz True for deep concentration in quiet rooms or libraries where blocking out distractions is key; pick POHPYU Open Ear Earbuds for open-concept dorms or cafes where hearing a professor or friend approaching matters.
The Groovz True Wireless Earbuds are engineered for those who prioritize audio fidelity and complete separation from their environment. The design relies on an in-ear placement with three included silicone tip sizes (S, M, L) to create a physical barrier against outside noise. This isn't just about comfort; it's about creating a dedicated sonic bubble. When you are trying to memorize vocabulary lists or solve complex calculus problems, this isolation is often the difference between focus and distraction. The inclusion of active noise cancellation further enhances this by dampening low-frequency hums like air conditioners or distant traffic, which can be particularly annoying when you are trying to hold a thought in your head.
Battery performance is another critical factor for students who spend long days on campus or in coffee shops without easy access to power outlets. These earbuds offer up to 5 hours of continuous playback on a single charge, extending to a massive 27 hours when paired with the charging case. That LED display on the case is a practical feature I appreciate; it lets you check the remaining charge in real-time so you aren't caught off guard mid-study session. You get the convenience of knowing exactly how much power is left before you leave home, ensuring your playlist or audiobook doesn't cut out right as you reach a new chapter.

However, this product is not for everyone. If you have sensitive ears or prefer to wear headphones loosely over your ears rather than inserting them deeply, the in-ear design might feel intrusive after a few hours. The rounded tips and plastic enclosure provide a snug fit, but they do physically occupy the ear canal. Additionally, while the Bluetooth 5.3 connection is stable and supports smart touch controls for navigating playlists, the reliance on a tight seal means you lose the ability to hear someone calling your name across a room. It is best suited for the student who values "crystal clear calls" and high-definition audio above all else, even if it means tuning out the world entirely.
The POHPYU Open Ear Earbuds take a fundamentally different approach, prioritizing situational awareness and comfort over sound isolation. With an on-ear hook design weighing only 8 grams per bud, these earbuds sit securely on top of the ear rather than inside it. This open-ear structure allows ambient sounds to pass through naturally, meaning you can listen to music or lecture recordings while still hearing the chatter in a library, the footsteps of a passerby, or the announcement of a bus stop. For a student studying in a bustling dormitory, a busy café, or outdoors while walking between classes, this feature transforms the experience from isolated to integrated. You never have to worry about missing important auditory cues while enjoying your content.
In terms of raw specifications, the POHPYU model boasts impressive longevity and connectivity upgrades. The Bluetooth 6.0 chip ensures a fast, stable connection with a range up to 50 feet, which is significantly higher than many competitors. This stability is crucial for students moving around campus who don't want their audio cutting out as they walk away from their laptop or phone. The battery life is equally compelling, offering 13 hours of playback on a single charge and up to 60 hours combined with the charging case. This is nearly double the battery capacity of the Groovz True, making it an excellent choice for marathon study sessions or travel days where charging opportunities are scarce. The 14.2mm dual drivers deliver balanced audio, and the IPX5 water-resistant rating protects against sweat and light rain, making them durable enough for outdoor workouts or rainy commutes.
There are trade-offs to this open design, primarily regarding audio quality in noisy settings. Because there is no passive or active noise cancellation to block out external sound, the clarity of the music may suffer if you are in a loud environment. The sound is not "bad," but it competes with the world around you. Furthermore, the lack of an in-ear seal means bass response might feel less punchy compared to sealed earbuds. This product is ideal for the student who needs to stay alert and connected to their environment, perhaps for safety reasons or simply because they dislike the feeling of having their ears plugged. It is also a strong contender for "best kids headphones for study" scenarios where supervision is necessary, as the open design allows parents or guardians to easily communicate with the child without removing the device.

I would buy the POHPYU Open Ear Earbuds for my own study setup. While the Groovz True offers excellent isolation, I find myself constantly needing to hear what is happening around me when I am working in shared spaces. The ability to keep the music playing while staying aware of my environment prevents the "tunnel vision" effect that often leads to fatigue. The 60-hour battery life is also a game-changer; I rarely need to charge them more than once a week, whereas I find myself reaching for the Groovz case daily. The open-ear design is the superior choice for modern students who balance study with movement and social interaction, making it the most versatile tool for daily life.
The Groovz True is better for blocking distractions due to its in-ear seal and active noise cancellation. The POHPYU open-ear design intentionally lets ambient sound in, so it will not silence a noisy roommate.
The POHPYU Open Ear Earbuds offer significantly longer battery life, providing up to 60 hours total with the case, whereas the Groovz True provides up to 27 hours total.
Both support touch controls and clear audio transmission. The Groovz True features dual microphones with active noise reduction for clearer calls in busy areas, while the POHPYU relies on its Bluetooth 6.0 stability for consistent connectivity.
The POHPYU Open Ear Earbuds are the safer choice for outdoor activities because the open-ear structure allows you to hear traffic and other environmental sounds while listening to your content.
