Whether you’re just starting or looking to level up, our lessons are designed to help play with confidence.
2 hours a month... 2 opportunities to change a life. At Grooves For Good, we're looking for passionate youth like you to join our tutor team! Are you ready to make an impact, inspire students, and grow your skills in the music world?
As a tutor, you’ll provide personalized guidance, encouraging students to reach their musical goals. Through your mentorship, you will build students’ confidence and love for music. By becoming a tutor, you can make a meaningful impact, supporting youth who may have limited access to music education.
As a tutor, you’ll gain experience in lesson planning, time management, and team collaboration. GFG also offers training workshops to support your growth as an educator. Growth opportunities are ongoing, with regular training sessions, feedback, and professional development events.
By joining as a tutor, you become part of a supportive network where musicians work together, share knowledge, and uplift one another. Tutors can engage in community-building activities and collaborate with other GFG branches at any time.
Must be proficient in at least one musical instrument and have four years of consistent practice or study.
Must have a solid foundation of fundamental music theory and practical experience with their instrument.
Must have at least one year of performance experience, which may include recitals, gigs, band performances, or other live events.
Must be confident playing in front of an audience, which helps them teach students about performing techniques.
Passion for teaching youth and inspiring a love of music.
Strong communication skills and patience with beginner musicians.
Willingness to learn new teaching methods and participate in ongoing professional development provided by GFG.
Formal Music Training
Music certificates (e.g., RCM, ABRSM, RSL) or formal studies at school, college, or university level are highly valued.
Any prior teaching experience or a background in music education is a plus, as it supports effective lesson delivery.
Proficiency in Multiple Instruments
A strong ability to play more than one instrument is a huge advantage. Proficiency is key; being genuinely skilled in multiple instruments enables tutors to teach confidently across various areas (e.g., guitar and piano). Playing only basic notes on an instrument doesn’t suffice for proficiency.
