The amount of people at the club was too much for me. Marcos was celebrating and had convinced me to come with so he could party. He was busy singing and dancing with the growing crowd that I quickly became a wallflower, just watching him as he had fun. I loved Marcos, but there were times I felt very uncomfortable with his antics that I just wanted to flee. He wasnt worried about me, so I felt I could run away without any issue.
As I shifted further into the crowd to get away from the noise and people, I felt a hand on my arm. Glancing over, I saw Alexander and smiled at him. 'Do you want to get away and take a walk?' He wrote on his pad. He had sat next to me in a chair, his smile contagous. With a quick nod, we walked out of the party, unnoticed by Marcos and his dreams of living large and in charge.
We sat and conversed for hours. I was happy to have him with me. We had been texting back and forth for the last two weeks. He had moved here from Sulani. "To tell you the truth, I am terrified of water now." I admitted. "Even though Marcos saved me, I still can't go swimming." It was nice that Alexander listened, even it was because he was mute.
It was nice having time away from the loud music and people. So I could not help but laugh at his lame jokes, his true silliness. He made an exaderated yawn and stretched out to try and sneak a side hug, but the move was so over exaggerated, I could not help but begin to laugh. His smile brightening as I doubled over trying, and failing, to hide my laugh with a fake coughing fit.
Time stood still in the park, and it was out own private area to just relax and unwind. He stood up and pulled me close. We began to dance to music only we could hear. The night melted away as it felt like the ocean was rocking us into a gentle surreal dream. Nothing else mattered as we danced, and my mind grew more and more foggy with each happy moment.
The night was truly magic to me. That night we danced, laughed, and were free. We slipped into the darkest parts of the park and he continued to shower me with affection. It was like a siren song playing in my ear as I let him take me into the nearby covering and we spent a night in each other's arms. It wasn't until nearly midnight I pulled myself from the magic and ran for the nearest taxi.Â
"Oh Maya, what have you gotten yourself into."
