We're recruiting. The GRiDx Lab is seeking motivated graduate students (MS and PhD) for spring and Fall 2027.
Research areas: Electromagnetic transient (EMT) simulation of inverter-based resources, stability and control in low-inertia power systems, and quantum-classical optimization for grid planning — including power electronics and large-load (e.g., data center) integration.
Background we look for:
Strong mathematical reasoning, and sound knowledge of linear algebra
Coursework, and good understanding of circuit theory, controls, and calculus
Proficiency in MATLAB and/or Python, C and/or C++
Familiarity with simulation environment (PSCAD, Simulink, or similar) is a plus but not required.
To apply: apply through Old Dominion University Graduate Admissions selecting Electrical & Computer Engineering, and separately email me (m5hasan@odu.edu) with your CV and a short statement of your mathematical problem-solving ability.
