GridSync Privacy Policy (Non-Personalized Ads)
Last updated: January 24, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how GridSync (“the App”) handles information. The App is provided by Jonathan Tucker (“we,” “us,” “our”).
The App shows non-personalized ads using Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK).
The App offers an optional $0.99 “Remove Ads” in-app purchase.
We do not create user accounts and we do not directly collect personal information like your name, email, or phone number.
Even with non-personalized ads, Google may still process certain data to deliver ads, measure performance, and help prevent fraud/abuse.
We do not directly collect personal information from you.
When the App displays non-personalized ads through Google AdMob, Google may automatically process certain information, such as:
Device information (device model, operating system version, language)
IP address (often used for general location like country/region and for security/fraud prevention)
Ad performance and interaction data (for example, whether an ad was shown, how often it was shown, or whether it was tapped)
Diagnostics related to ad delivery and app stability
Important: We configure the App to show non-personalized ads, meaning ads are not selected based on a user profile for ad targeting.
However, non-personalized ads do not mean “no data.” Google may still use device identifiers and similar technologies for purposes such as fraud prevention, security, frequency capping, and aggregated reporting/measurement.
If you purchase “Remove Ads,” Apple processes the payment. We do not receive your full payment information. Apple may provide us confirmation that the purchase is active so we can enable the “Remove Ads” feature.
Because we do not directly collect personal information, our use is limited to:
Running the App and its features
Showing non-personalized ads (until “Remove Ads” is purchased)
Validating the “Remove Ads” purchase through Apple
Supporting basic security, fraud prevention, and performance (via Google’s ad services)
The App displays non-personalized ads unless you purchase Remove Ads. After purchase, ads should stop displaying in the App. If ads briefly appear due to caching, timing, or network delays, it should resolve shortly.
We do not sell your personal information.
The App may share or make available certain information to:
Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK) for ad delivery, measurement, frequency capping, and fraud prevention
Apple for in-app purchase processing and purchase validation
These providers handle information according to their own privacy policies and terms.
You can remove ads by purchasing Remove Ads.
On iOS, you can manage certain privacy settings in Settings.
We do not ask to track you across other companies’ apps and websites using Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission. If our practices change in the future, we will update this policy.
We do not store personal data on our own servers. Google and Apple may retain data as needed to provide their services and comply with legal obligations, according to their own policies.
GridSync is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through a third-party service used by the App (such as an ad service), please contact us and we will help address the issue.
Depending on your region, laws may require consent for certain ad-related technologies. Where required, we may present consent choices or prompts related to ads and measurement.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
