GPA operates a Thrift Shop open Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10am-3pm, which accepts donations and sells to the community solely for the benefit of patients. GPA is situated in Cottage 12 on the grounds of Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital in Morris Plains, NJ.
The Greystone Park Association is a vital link between the hospital and the community. We are dedicated to working for the welfare of the patients and their rehabilitation.
Since its formation in 1948 by Mrs. Eads Johnson and a group of eight women who simply wanted to make life a little brighter for the mental patients, GPA has risen to serve its patient population. Now, the patients number 450 with an additional 100 patients which can be located in cottages.
The role of the GPA volunteers and the community is just as vital, as these patients moved into the new ten acre Hospital facility (2008) with its many new amenities and hopeful plans for wellness and recovery. GPA is looking for new ways to fill its essential tasks of supporting the hospital staff by extending friendship and a caring presence from the community.
It is the mission of the Greystone Park Association to assist and support Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital and the residents both physically and financially in whatever ways are feasible. It is our goal to make the life of the patient a little brighter and less institutional and to provide some of the amenities that the State of New Jersey is unable to supply.
GPA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
GPA supplements the services provided by Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital and calls upon the community for volunteers, donations, and support. We provide volunteer services and practical assistance as required by the hospital. We inform the public of the patients' needs and challenges while enlisting community support in finding solutions.
