Within this e-portfolio you will find my professional profile, including my teaching philosophy, CV, and samples of my academic work.

I am a Registered Nurse and Nurse Educator with a clinical background in pediatric acute care. Embarking on my doctoral journey at Clemson University in South Carolina, I specialize in Healthcare Genetics and Genomics. My research interests include epigenetics, genomic analysis of developmental delay and neurodevelopmental disorders, and nutritional impacts on developmental programming. Currently engaged as a Research Associate, I am contributing to studies shaping genomics-informed nursing practice policies.

My professional trajectory includes roles as a Curriculum Coordinator in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at Douglas College and as a Research Nurse at the Vaccine Evaluation Centre at the UBC Child and Family Research Institute. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, I actively participated in the relief effort as an immunizer. My diverse nursing practice spans acute care, critical care, community-based nursing, nursing research, leadership, and education.

Commencing my journey as a nurse educator in 2010, I have taught clinical courses in pediatric acute care and community nursing practice. My instructional portfolio encompasses relational practice, change theory, health care systems, population health, health promotion, chronic care, acute care, and health assessment, complemented by lab and simulation experiences.

Since completing my master’s degree, I have pursued additional courses through the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN) to enhance my competence as a nurse educator and clinical instructor. I successfully attained the CASN Canadian Certified Nurse Educator (CCNE) designation and am a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society, Xi Eta Chapter.

A keen interest in curriculum development has led me to independently create four theory courses, and I have collaborated on two others. My current work focuses on cultural safety, humility, and anti-racist practices by guiding faculty in decolonizing curriculum and creating safe learning spaces. I am committed to equity, and cultivating an inclusive environment that values and respects diverse perspectives. 

Additionally, I am dedicated to advancing my lab and simulation instructional expertise. Having delivered over 50 simulations across various courses, I received a Disruptive Practice award from the Department of Health Sciences for innovatively incorporating simulation into a pediatric health assessment course.

As an authentic and progressive leader, I strive to foster a cohesive workplace culture through open communication, transparency, and building leadership capacity in faculty. My leadership skills include change management and strategic planning.
