The Gressingham duck Is a cross between the succulent Pekin duck and the flavoursome Wild Mallard. It was originally bred in Gressingham by a small-scale duck farmer, who set out to develop a new tastier and fatter breed of duck.
In 1989, 200 ducklings were dispatched – by train! - to a family farm in Debach, Suffolk.
Gressingham is now synonymous with duck, its reputation for exceptional taste has made Gressingham the duck of choice for all of major UK retailers and many independent stockists and specialist butchers, as well as being featured on the menus of top restaurants nationwide.
