Hello! My name is Greg Hess. As a profession, I have worked for over 25 years in cyber infrastructure. As a student, I have a Master's degree in computer science and am currently attending Michigan State University for my PhD. I had a long career in I.T. prior to going back to University for a more 'formal' education. What changed my perspective was my daughter. I realized that I.T. had begun to grow stagnant in innovation and training, especially cyber-infrastructure. I also realized that I wanted an environment that I could share with my daughter so that I.T., labs and higher education were familiar and positive to her. Going back for my education (B.S.) convinced me to go back for my Master's, which now convinced me to go back for my PhD. Higher education has tremendous individuals and intelligence, people much smarter than me, but I think I could bring great value in computer science utilizing my long and diverse I.T. career experiences and knowledge to assist, accelerate, promote and support the next generation of scientists...which someday will include my daughter.
