Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Sept./2024 – present: 

• Selected as a member of the Intercultural and Engagement Initiatives Committee at the University of North Alabama, previously part of the Diversity and Equity Initiatives. Special thanks to Dr. Pat Sanders. 

Aug./2022 – May/2023: 

• Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Service (DEI) - Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering (ISE) DEI representative at Mississippi State University. 

• Statement: I was selected as the graduate student representative for the Industrial & Systems Engineering (ISE) department’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) committee. This committee includes one faculty chair, three faculty members, one graduate student, and one undergraduate student. 

• Our DEI objectives were to (1) review and update the department's DEI documentation, (2) collect and analyze DEI data, and (3) track and report progress towards DEI goals. Also, we distributed a Qualtrics survey to gather input on the following:

1. How can we improve DEI engagement and strategies?

2. How frequently should the DEI committee hold gatherings (e.g., bi-weekly, monthly, or each semester)?

• We welcome people of all races, ethnicities, national origins, gender identities, religions, sexual orientations, abilities/disabilities, ages, socioeconomic backgrounds, military status, and other identities not listed. We uphold the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and do not tolerate racism in any form. If you see bias in action or know of anyone facing it, please speak up and let your professors or academic advisors know.
