This group is being formed with the goal of adding green space to Davis Square, and better maintaining the green spaces we have today.
Current (potential) projects in-flight include
Attempting to get permission from the City of Somerville for curbside native plant gardens (funded, approval pending).
Attempting to get permission from the City of Somerville / MBTA to allow green-savvy folks to "adopt a path segment" in the spirit of "adopt a highway" - cleaning up trash, removing invasive, and planting natives.
Attempting to get permission from the City of Somerville to for a collaboration between the SGC and the Somerville Public Library to host container gardens at 54 College Avenue, and run a series of workshops about container gardening in the city.
Prior / running projects include
A collaboration with Somerville's DPW and SGC to better maintain the grounds at Somerville's West Branch library.
A program at the West Branch Library to share plant cuttings during the winter months.
Ongoing removal of invasive plants and adding new plant variety to the Bikeway Community Garden.
