Becoming a Member

Interest Meeting for 2024 on February 2nd, 2024

2024 Applicants: Read this document here to learn more about the timeline for the year and what we look for in applicants!

The application will go LIVE on February 2nd, 2024.

The application will due on March 1st, 2024 by 3pm.

Step 1: Make a copy of this template here to be used as your application portfolio

Step 2: Share this link here with 3 teachers

Step 3: Submit your portfolio from the first step here by March 1st at 3 pm.  You must share your edit history.  Any portfolio that has a blocked history or includes edits that occur after 3pm will not be considered for membership  

Criteria for Application to the GHHS National Honor Society:

1. Students must be a Sophomore or a Junior.

2. Students must complete a portfolio that shows evidence of outstanding performance in the areas of: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character

3. Students must have three teacher recommendations using the GHHS Teacher recommendation form.

4. Overall high school GPA must be at least 3.5 (un-weighted).

5. The selection of each candidate shall be by a majority vote of the 5 member faculty council.

After being inducted

1. Members must accumulate 10 hours and 2 NHS events each semester. New members must accumulate 5 hours and 1 NHS event in their first semester as a member. 

2. Members must attend meetings held on select Fridays throughout the year during lunch. A schedule of meeting dates will be given to all new members.

3. Members must participate in all Green Hope NHS service projects.

4. Members pay annual dues of $20.00.

5. Members can be dismissed from NHS if the member does not maintain service hours, GPA, passing grades, attend monthly meetings, participate in service projects or has extensive absences in their daily classes.
