Complete the hours form after each event to verify your volunteer work. Please make sure that it's completed in a timely manner so that the hours spreadsheet can be updated accordingly. (This form has been updated for the 2025-26 school year.)
The form requires a signed half-sheet from the event. This should be filled out at the end of the event and should have a supervising signature. Any NHS member who submits the Hours Form without a signed half-sheet will receive no service credit.Â
Members may not submit volunteer hours earned over the summer. See below for hours requirements.
20 hours a year
Maximum of 4 hours per event
tutoring 10 times per semester (5 hours)
Hours form (with picture) is REQUIRED
**If tutoring 10 times for both semesters, then only need to get 10 hours for the year**
Members who do not meet the hours requirements in a semester will be put on probation. If the same member again fails to meet the hours requirement for first semester by the probationary date, they will be referred to faculty council for dismissal from the Honor Society.
Members may complete service activities outside of the honor society to fulfill the hours requirement. Members cannot receive compensation or recognition of any kind for service. Service activities do not include performances of any kind, athletic games, membership in another club, or activities that do not have a meaningful impact on the school or community. If you are unsure whether a service activity meets the Green Hope NHS standard, please contact the VP of Hours.
Members must fill out an hours form every time they volunteer at an event. The hours sheet must include a picture from the end of the event with the volunteer in it. Any NHS member who submits a false or forged hours form/picture will be referred to the faculty council for disciplinary action which may result in dismissal from the Honor Society.
Volunteering at the same NHS event during two separate shifts (on the same day or different days), will be counted as one NHS event.
Additional hours and/or NHS events earned in the first semester do not roll over to the second semester and they do not roll over to the next year.
Participating in NHS service projects is mandatory. Members who fail to participate will be referred to the faculty council for disciplinary action which may result in dismissal from the Honor Society.
If you have any questions or believe the hours sheet is incorrect, please contact Anika Dinesh (asdinesh2@students.wcpss.net).
