Expanding Sustainable Production Practices at Paramount

The filming process as a whole is resource-intensive. It takes a significant amount of energy and materials to build and operate sets, transport people and props, ensure a healthy and safe working environment, and meet the needs of all the people who work on set. To mitigate some of this impact, sustainable production guidelines have been in place at Paramount Pictures since 2013 and at Paramount Television Studios since 2014. These programs and initiatives keep evolving over time. New film features ASU’s Peter Byck’s solutions to climate change

November 2023

Peter Byck, a professor of practice at ASU’s School of Sustainability, produced a film featuring farmers and scientists with different viewpoints discussing the carbon footprint of both conventional and regenerative cattle grazing. The Arizona premiere of “Roots So Deep (You Can See the Devil Down There)” took place in late October at ASU. Michael Crow, ASU President, said the film helps us “to better understand the relationship between agricultural production and climate change.”
