# GreenDot Privacy Policy

GreenDot is published by **JEHU JUSTUS PETERS** under **GreenDot Studios**. This policy explains what the GreenDot Android app accesses, where that information is stored, and the choices available to you.
## Information GreenDot accesses
GreenDot observes device screen-state events needed for its core function. It stores:
- timestamps for phone locks and unlocks;
- lock durations and derived active-use durations;
- daily goals, sleep schedule, notification preferences, milestones, companion selections, and related app settings; and
- a limited local diagnostic log used for troubleshooting.
GreenDot does not read message content, call logs, contacts, location, photos, microphone data, or browsing history.
## How the information is used
The app processes this information on your device to calculate Green Dots, streaks, history, insights, milestones, and notification status. GreenDot has no user accounts or developer-operated backend. It does not use advertising, third-party analytics, or artificial-intelligence services, and GreenDot Studios cannot remotely access the information stored by the app.
GreenDot does not sell personal or sensitive information.
## Storage and Android backup
GreenDot stores its database and preferences in the app's private storage. If Android backup is enabled for your device, Android may copy the GreenDot database and preferences to your private Google account for later restoration. GreenDot permits cloud backup only when Android reports that client-side encryption is available. Android may also transfer the same information directly between your old and new devices during device setup.
These backup and transfer services are controlled by Android and your Google account, not by GreenDot Studios. GreenDot Studios cannot read or retrieve those copies. Google's handling of Android backup data is governed by Google's privacy terms and your device backup settings.
GreenDot excludes its diagnostic log, temporary files, caches, and manually exported files from Android Auto Backup.
## Manual backup, export, and sharing
You can create a GreenDot backup or diagnostic report and choose where to save or share it. These actions are initiated by you through Android's document picker or share sheet. GreenDot Studios does not receive the file unless you deliberately send it to GreenDot Studios for support.
Exported files can contain detailed phone-use timestamps and settings. You are responsible for protecting exported files and for the privacy practices of any destination or recipient you select. Delete exported files from those destinations when you no longer need them.
## Retention and deletion
Local information remains on your device until you clear GreenDot's app storage, uninstall the app, or replace the history by restoring another backup. Android backup copies are controlled through your device and Google account backup settings and follow Google's retention practices. User-created backup and diagnostic files remain wherever you saved or shared them until you delete them there.
Because GreenDot has no accounts or developer backend, GreenDot Studios has no server-side app data to delete and cannot delete data held only on your device or in your private Google account.
## Permissions
GreenDot requests only permissions needed to run continuous, user-visible unlock tracking, display notifications, resume after reboot, and let you request unrestricted battery operation. These permissions do not give GreenDot access to message content, call logs, contacts, or location.
## Children's privacy
GreenDot does not provide chat, social networking, or account features and does not knowingly collect or transmit children's personal information. The same local-only data practices described in this policy apply to every user.
## Security
GreenDot limits app data to private on-device storage, an explicit Android backup allowlist, and user-directed exports. No method of storage is completely risk-free, so keep your device secured and treat manually exported files as sensitive.
## Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when GreenDot's features or data practices change. The effective date above will be updated when revisions are published.
